A few out of context quotes from an interview with Rev Jessie Jackson...then the entire article...just take it for what it is worth....
"PREPARE for a new America: That's the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week. " "The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end." "Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House" "We helped him start his career," says Jackson. "And then we were always there to help him move ahead. He is the continuation of our struggle for justice not only for the black people but also for all those who have been wronged." "Will Obama's election close the chapter of black grievances linked to memories of slavery? The reverend takes a deep breath and waits a long time before responding. "No, that chapter won't be closed," he says. "However, Obama's victory will be a huge step in the direction we have wanted America to take for decades." Jackson rejects any suggestion that Obama was influenced by Marxist ideas in his youth. "I see no evidence of that," he says. "Obama's thirst for justice and equality is rooted in his black culture." I admittetly took these quotes out of a discussion. There are actually a few sentences that I could agree with, but this is some idea of what is on the horizon. I lived in the same city as Jesse Jackson for the last four decades. He will always appear in places and arrange to be quoted in front of a camera saying things that he knows will get national attention. The only thing that's important to Jesse Jackson is Jesse Jackson.
I question whether there's much truth in Jackson's allegations, but one thing is for sure--I wouldn't give any credence to anything Jesse Jackson says, even if he were arguing that the sun comes up in the east. |

I agree wholeheartedly with you. Unfortunetly if you read the article he EXPECTS that he will be in the inner circle...his son is co chairman of Obama's campaign or was at least during the primary, and I was struck by the references to WE in his statments about Obama. In my mind, Jessie Jackson RUINED or at least began the ruin of the Democratic party. When he and his organization became the core of the party it was all over. They have just been waiting, IN MY OPINION, for a Sen Obama to appear on the scene ! THEY in my sentence is please not to be construed as racist.....actually that would be impossible as Rev Jackson is one of the most racist persons I know of, but he is a big deal now and expects to be a bigger deal ! |

He and Jesse probably have sights on a cabinet post ![]() All opponents of Obama can hope for is the two of them just keep right on runnin' their mouths about what Obama is gonna do when he takes over the WH. I guess they bring a little humor to a pitiful campaign by pitiful contestants!!! BTK |

As much as I disdain Jesse Jackson, I have been greatly impressed with his son, Jesse Jackson, Jr.
"Junior" is a liberal Democrat, for sure. But from what I've seen and heard from him, he is an extremely smart, thoughtful and responsible member of the House of Representatives. As he is supposed to do, he is a strong and consistent representative first of residents from his far southside Chicago disrict, and then metropolitan Chicago and the State of Illinois as whole. He has demonstrated on several occasions a willingness to represent his people aggressively, but when the time came to legislate for the good of everyone, he'll make an agreement with his political opposition. The younger Jackson works had at being a Congressman and spends little time trying to get his face on TV and in the news. You may not agree with his politics, but the U.S. House of Representatives would be a lot better off with 435 Jesse Jackson, Jr.'s representing both Democratic and Republican constitiuencies. |
