Default Blue Collar Backgrounds

It would be interesting to know what type of work background has afforded folks the privilege of living here. Just curious!

Gracie

I can't change the poll now but that's what I intended for the "White Collar" category.

So, which do I pick as a former legal secretary? I'm definitely not blue collar and I wasn't middle management. I know it's called pink collar but I always hated that term (probably because I really don't like pink to begin with and it is so sexist).

Makes no difference at all.
We are a very diverse group here and it is interesting to know what we all did in our former lives. The poll is just another tool to give us clues about our TV family.

Default stay at home moms?

1st I was an accounts reconciliation clerk in a major bank for 7 years. I wanted to be a teacher, but love found me and college was out. So I worked in a bank. Then came the babies. I wanted to be a stay at home Mom. Thats the job I wanted. Teaching at home was what I got! Realistically I had to work. I worked opposite hubbys hours for 25 years waitressing. I LOVED it! I was great at it! I had an ocean view and a great following. I just had to be home for the kids during the day. Hub was Mr.Mom at night. It worked for us. I guess that is blue collar? Well, I am now reaping the rewards of a long, hard career. I love meeting all types of people and don't care if anyone thinks my job was menial. Most don't. I was and am proud of what I did. I like this thread, thanks for asking, Captain!!!

Default From The Projects to TV

I grew up poor - in The Projects of Brooklyn and Da Bronx !

My profession was "a secretary" and after working 18 year in a law enforcement environment I was fortunate to have earned a pension from my city employer. Years of living frugal and making the right choice in real estate location have rewarded me with the opportunity to consider TV as a relocation choice.

In our former lives we owned a vacation business that hosted over 8000 guests in 12 years. These folks came from all walks of life to spend their precious vacation time with others of a like mind.

The adventure vacation was a sort of equalizer and one of the fun things we observed was folks from all walks of life just hanging out and having a great time.

I always used to tell folks at the beginning of the week:

"We don't care who you are or what you do, we're all just here to have a great time. So leave the "extra baggage" at home and be who you want to be for the next few days."

A lot like TV!!

Default So what does this poll tell one?

Just like all other polls it is a function ONLY of the respondents. Just looking at participation VS total viewers....less than 10%. Numerical conclusion, this poll like all other polls simply says the majority won't bother to participate.

So why we hear so much about polls? And now it is election eve and we are being inundated with the so called farcical exit polls.

Another point demonstrating the media makes banquets out of ham sandwiches.

redwitch....I've interacted with lawyers professionally and personally more than I cared to. My experience clearly established that if you wanted to get anything done, you dealt directly with the legal secretaries whenever you could. They did the background, the briefs and frequently knew more about the case than the attorney. Count yourself as an undercompensated executive.

Thank you, Cabo. I usually just considered myself overworked, underpaid and loved every second of the stress. Go figure.
