Default Golf Carts vs Cars

Ok, seriously..if you wouldn't drive a car thru a parking lot as if you're a Nascar driver, why is ok to drive a souped-up golf cart in such a way? Not only do I live here, but I also work here, and I can't tell you how many times I've left my office, at which we are required to park in the back, and almost gotten creamed by a flying golf cart while I'm attempting to make it from the door to my car! Yesterday, there's absolutely no way the golf cart driver could have stopped had I been backing out of my parking space. A little courtesy, please!

I agree with you, See this a few times per month at Spanish Springs lanes parking lot. The carts seem to come from the ave Sonoma taking a short cut to the shopping Center. This is especially bad now because of the construction trailers parked in the lot.
Also see this on several of the shopping center parking lots in the are. Carts can be hard to see, especially if there is an SUV or truck in the area.

We all have to drive and walk defensively.

And they blow thru the stop signs @ the St. James and Bailey Trail gate, heaven forbid they should come to a complete stop & let the engine restart

Almost filled my quota this year yesterday @ St. James

My office is near Southern Trace and you take you life in your hands to even consider walking anywhere at the backs of the offices or the shopping center!

Why do you ever park in a space that requires you to back out? Find a pull-through site, even if you have to walk a hundred yards farther.

If you don't know what the parking lots look like. How can you advise to pull thru a parking spot?

Unfortunately to many drivers just don't think beyond the front of their vehicle. Car or Cart you have to anticipate what might be coming from all directions. Be a defensive driver at all times, things happen in a split moment. Also unfortunate is some just don't learn 'till its to late.

We visited for three days in November, so we think we know everything about TV.

At every village center, we found pull-through spots to park. If there were no pull through spots, and learning how people drive their golf carts so crazy, we would back into a parking spot.

Survival.

When we take the car, which is seldom, we always either use a pull through space or back into the space. Also, seeing more do that at the Savannah Center.

We learned early on that living on an inside corner of the street, you have very limited view backing out of a driveway. This was during the construction period in our village, so we had to dodge speeding construction vehicles and workers. Our solution is to pull past our drive (part way around the turn) and back in. Now we have a great viw when leaving the driveway.
We use turn signals if there is anyone near use when backing in so they know which way we are going.

I don't know about the Florida law but in some states you can be cited for improper backing when parking facing outward in a parking space. Kansa is one such state.

There have been almost 38,000,000 minutes in my lifetime. I wonder why saving one or two minutes is such a priority for so many people. So down and enjoy each minute, it's all we've got.

Some people just have an inherent death wish once they leave that safe confines of their home; like the people in carts that haul a** through the parking lot of Seabreeze Rec. Center to save maybe 2 seconds, like the idiot walking right down the middle of the MMP (with earbuds on) between the tunnel and service road on Turtle Mound last week, like the person in a cart that crossed 466 today at Bob Evans against a red light (it's a no no even with a green light).

We all have stories. Who can say why people do the things they do. People make mistakes. Did you ever do something wrong while driving?

I probably have; but with the way people want to sue nowadays for anything and everything, I pretty much drive on the straight and narrow. Been in 6 vehicle wrecks and 1 plane crash that weren't my fault though. I did wreck a new patrol car stopping a stolen car with an escaped convict in it; a day earlier, it would have been my old unit.

I'm really amazed with the amount of carts here that more people aren't seriously injured, or even killed, with the way people drive and with the immobility of some people I see getting out of their vehicles/carts; I mean some of these drivers can barely walk, much less even move.
