Default Dumbest People In a Golf Crt

As we were pulling thru the St. James gate yesterday-a golf cart was waiting to cross . This is the layout--Grandma driving-daughter holding a 3 month old on her right-son- in -law in the rear seat holding two under 2 infants one in each arm.

I shouted if anything goes wrong those kids are going to get hurt @ best. My wife said-hope you guys are real strong.

If you got guests with infants leave the cart home--use your Car--the infants will never know what they were riding in.

So, what do you yell at people in cars with children? Have not heard of one incident where a child has died in a golf cart accident here. Children die in cars daily. Yes, golf carts can be dangerous and fatalities have occurred while being in one. However, if driven safely, carefully and sanely, the risks are not that high. Maybe you should try the MYOB rule and not be so quick to try and wreck other people's pleasure.

Children have to be secured in a child seat in a car. And a child did die when the golf cart turned over & the child hit the curb-best kept secret in the Villages it happened several years ago-corner of St.Charles & Buttonwood

I agree. I don't think that we should go around yelling at people and trying to push our beliefs onto others.

First of all, it won't change anyone's behavior. Secondly, it's liable to cause more serious confrontation.

These people were not breaking any law. If they were you should have called the police.

What's next, are we going to yell at people who have their ten year old on the back of a motorcycle because we think that it's dangerous?

Sad. I can only imagine what those parents/grandparents must be going through for the rest of their lives. "If only I would have..."

The Daily Sun-said if you have infants & small children as guests-TAKE THE CAR

When we lived on our boat and cruised for six years we witnessed many tragedies-like three men getting swept over a dam in Canada, a child who was bow riding & got tossed of a boat,

The founder of the Bone Fish Grill was killed when he was tossed from his boat in Tampa Bay--his body was never found.

Whats wrong with giving someone a heads up?

When I was in business, the most important thing I could be proud of was, none of my employees got injured while working for me,

It is a regional thing. Only folks raised in certain areas of the country are not annoyed when someone tells them how to do things.

Ohio people would not invite you to their next hamburger fry.

Golf cart deaths more common than thought | TBO.com and The Tampa Tribune

Just doing some research.

I am with Redwitch though that telling someone in a golf cart like this would probably just make them defensive and not get them to change their behavior in the least. Maybe, getting more people to read TOTV though might help them with some safety precautions.

I remember those left turns in the golf cart and how hard I had staying in when a neighbor was driving a little too fast for my comfort. I could just put my feet down though hard and stay in the golf cart.

You are right and so is Chatbrat. Some people have the diplomacy to tell people to go to hell and make them look forward to the trip.

I've seen the same stupidity. I've bit my lip and didn't say anything. Then I pray I don't read about the child in the next 48 hours.

That's true. I have met some law students who could tell you that the sky is red all the time and you might eventually believe them if you do not look outside. Same with some sales people I have come across.

Charm and good story telling will change people's attitudes and behavior quicker than rudeness though.

I do believe that suggestions like this would work in certain parts of the country like the Twin Cities but probably not with many New Yorkers at least not with the many New Yorkers I have met here in the Villages and in Palm Harbor. There are exceptions of course. A native Minnesotan who moved to New York and now lives in the Villages, maybe.

Based on the OP's description, I believe this is a bone head act by the golf cart owner. Those small tykes are unprotected and subject to severe injuries. However, with that said, I don't believe yelling instructions and your disproval of their actions will accomplish anything. Unless it's unlawful we can just hope for the best and pray that those kids aren't hurt.

If your child is not properly secured in your auto, it's against the law, endangering the life of a child. Why shouldn't it be the same or even more strict for a golf cart.

If there was a law passed, some folks would ignore it. I think that they think the slow speed makes it safer.
