Default Pilates

Hi,

When we were there at the beginning of this year we went to Pilates/Yoga on the ball classes (free) at Lake Miona Rec Centre.

I think it was a Thursday afternoon. We found it in the Recreation News. It started around 4.00 pm I think but you had to get there much earlier than that as it was very popular and in the end the man running the class had to restrict the numbers, so you were counted as you went in.

We really enjoyed it though - you have to have a ball otherwise you can't get in. Also it's advisable to get one of those rubber yoga mat things. We bought quite a thick one which rolls up from Walmart.

Hope this helps.

Are there any other pilate classes without using the ball - just regular pilates on the mat?

Pilates is a method of body conditioning and unique system of stretching
and strengthening movements. It strengthens and tones muscles, improves
posture, provides flexibility and balance. It unites the body and
mind, and creates a more stream-lined shape. All movements are initiated
from the abdominal and hip area. It is called the powerhouse, along with
the breathing. Pilates was introduced by Joseph Pilates, a German who
rehabilitated soldiers from WWI.

Thanks for the info on the pilates. Do you have to pay a fee for ALL exercise classes as well? I was under the impression they were part of the amenitie fees and no additional fees were charged. I'm glad I inquired about this.

YodaMom,

The lifelong Learning College does charge for their classes and you must sign up for them ahead of time.

All Exercise classes held at the Recreation centers in the Villages are free but you must have a residents pass or guest pass to get in.

There is a listing of all the Exercise classes at the Rec centers In the Thursday Recreation News in the daily sun. You can also pick up a copy of the Recreation news at any recreation center.
