Default Attempted Carjacking in TV

A woman was almost carjacked on LaGrande near Spanish Springs-- a car bumped her car in the rear-when she stopped to look at the damage person jumped in her car and tried to drive away-good thing the crook didn't know how to operate a Mercedes shifter

If this happens do the following:

1) lock your car and take your keys with you after turning off the engine

2) better yet stay in your and call 911

3) if you have a firearm keep it at hands reach

I believe this is a trial run

Definitely not saying his did not happen, but have not seen any reports of the incident.

When did it happen?

My error! I did not read The Daily Sun one day and I miss out! Thanks for the link.

Lady Lake Police are advising motorists to be a little cautious after they handled an attempted carjacking incident earlier today. It happened around 10:20 a.m. at La Grande Blvd. and La Plaza Parkway. Police say a red Cadillac bumped into the rear of blue Mercedes driven by a senior woman. When the woman got out to check for damage, one of three male suspects got into her vehicle, but was unsuccessful in getting the car in gear to drive off. The three male suspects fled the scene in their vehicle after bystanders called 911. Police were unable to provide detailed suspect descriptions at this time. Police Chief Chris McKinstry reminds motorists if they suspect something unusual or don't believe car collision was accidental, they should wait for others or call 911.

The report is in today’s Daily Sun. It was broad daylight according to the report.

Just wondering if you can defend yourself if you are being carjacked and no bodily harm is happening and they just jump in your car and try to take off.
Be careful folks you don't get yourself in a position of defending whether or not they where trying to car jack your car.
little FYI to think about.
Call the police and get a phone pic if you can!

Thank You for the Link but i am aware of the castle doctrine.
You better hope the perp has a record or you have good witnesses and the perk is DOA.
If not there could be a lot of doubt accused against you my friend and a very expensive lawsuit to defend your action even if your in the right.
You may sincerely feel your life is threaten but pulling the trigger for a car jack with no physical harm would put yourself in a bad position if you get my point.
I am very pro NRA and get your point but just be Careful or you will be spending a million dollars to stay out of jail for some scum bag trying to steal your car.
just my opinion.

If you're not driving a luxury car I wouldn't be too concerned about it. There are a few cheaper models that are used for parts and are sold to chop shops but exporting stolen luxury cars is pretty big now and being near to the port may make TV new hunting grounds for the pigs that do this sort of thing.

The circumstances are still very important when you decide to defend yourself with force. I was in an attempted car jacking in Nevada in the Spring of 1984. Had been driving from Denver into a very barren area of Nevada near the Utah border on US 50. Pulled into a rest stop and a man came up and demanded I get out of the car. I was so tired I just moved my legs fast from where he was threatening to slam the door on them, started the car, aimed it at him in front of me, and then backed up as quickly as I could. Still had to stop to rest as soon as possible though. I had thought of running this attempted carjacker over but the circumstances I believe would not have been in my favor.

We all do it.

I still don't know how to type forebearance. It is coming up spelled incorrectly on another post.

I shouldn't have said it. Carry on Chelly.

If you're in your car castle doctrine, will apply-if out of your car proof of self defense gets dicy--example: you see a person exit your home with your belongs--deadly force is not justified unless the "perp" is armed

Most important fact is to remember the following words after a use of deadly force,"officer I will cooperate with authorities once my attorney is besides me" till then get lock jaw
