Default How Can I request a Road in TV.....

to be designated "No Parking"? Our villa sits at the end of a road that dead ends just past our driveway. Although in the Villa "rules" their is stated no parking on the streets in villa neigborhoods, but people are using this area for "overflow parking" instead of the actual designated overflow lot. When they park in this dead end area in front of my villa, it makes it very difficult for us to back out of our driveway without hitting them. I don't want to cause ill feelings by reporting them and sometimes don't know who the car belongs to, but it is impacting us. So we where thinking is there a way we can get them to put up a no parking sign there.

Thanks for your help. Army Guy

How about putting note on the windshield (non confrontational) asking them not to park there and inconvenience you.

Default Deed Compliance

If you know which address the cars belong to, call deed compliance and give them the info, the violators will be notified that they cannot park overnight. The over flow parking is for visitors, it is not for residents who just decide not to use their garage or driveways.

The problem is we do not know who owns them. They just appear and then disappear.
The note thing may work we will try, but would still like a sign put up.

Why not make it a point to watch for them to park there and talk with them. Most likely they don't know they're annoying anyone. I've always found that neighborly conversation works much better than notes or reporting someone to the authorities. That's a sure way to create friction with your neighbors.
If after personal contact they continue to park there, that's a sure sign of disrespect. Then do whatever it takes to remedy the situation.

You may have a lose lose situation here, AG. I have found people that inconsiderate are not usually amenable to reasoning. They have an attitude. Personally confronting them, no matter how politely, could turn ugly.
I think your no parking sign approach makes a lot of sense. I suggest calling the deed compliance people for starters. I understand Villa streets are private so the county needn't be involved.
Good luck and keep us informed

Army Guy: We have the same situation you have. We live at the end of the street in a courtyard villa home too and have had vehicles park there. We have left notes to make the person be aware of the problem we have with backing the car out of our driveway. That seemed to work. I don't know why they don't use the overflow parking, and the Villages Watch group hasn't acted on this matter either. I never thought about putting a small sign there. I'm interested to hear what the deed compliance person has to say about this too. We're returning to TV next Monday and it will be interesting to see if the same person is doing this again!

Default No Parking signs

Could you take a chance and put up your own sign?,
they are relatively cheap - maybe easier than creating a bad situation with a neighbor -

www.SafetySign.com/No-Parking-Signs
www.MyParkingSign.com
www.buildasign.com/ParkingSigns

put one up and just see what happens?

or go do a midnight sign borrowing expedition -

Peace,
L

Are the streets in the Villas public roads? If so...and I think so.....then deed compliance if they will act, would have to call county police to take action if any.

Call them villas or townhomes whatever, parking is and always will be a major problem especially if you have the one or two in the neighborhood that do not comply.

I've seen a few posts make mention of "overflow" parking. This really isn't the solution, at least in the deed restrictions I've reviewed. Why? Because the extra parking area in the CYV area is for Guests/Visitors, not the residents.

An example of a CV deed parking restriction: No owner of a homesite shall park, store, or keep any vehicle except wholly within his driveway, garage or other non-visitor parking spaces.

I recommend speaking with deed compliance and getting them involved. I am sure some residents simply are unaware of this restriction. In most cases the only place a resident can park and be in compliance is in their garage or on their driveway.

yes, I am 100% with ya on the parking problems in villa areas. What has really compounded it was that our villa was empty for a year after they built it so nobody was in it. Now we are there.
To me the sign is the best option.
I will call deed compliance, ok who has the phone number since I am presently in Alabama?

Army Guy,

Can't you just station a few sentries and a guard post with appropriate weaponry?

Just kidding. Welcome to Bonita.

Default Give them a ticket

The "Printer Guy" at Market of Marion has a preprinted parking ticket you could use. It's pink and and I believe it's imprinted with something like:

"You rude, inconsiderate *******. This is a NOT a Sanctioned parking zone. May the fleas of a thousand elephants infest your armpits"

That should give them the hint.

OBD, thanks I will give them a call atoday and see what is up. I will let you know.

Bob, having had most of my assignments with Armor Cav units, I thought about maybe an M1 tank might work better!

Captain, I like that idea, but I could not do that I am too nice even though I am a firm believer in following rules.
