I don't want to come across as someone that doesn't care about their neighbor but, there's something that seems terribly out of place. I live in the Village of Charlotte and sustained a minimum amount of roof damage (lost shingles). The repair was done within a week to ten days as were my neighbors that sustained any damage. The exception to this rule is one homeowner who owns a home on a corner lot has had a bright blue roofing material over more than 1/2 of his roof since the hurricane came and went. We are now in January, more than six months after hurricane Irma and the roof has not been repaired. If I thought the homeowner just didn't have the money for the repair I could say that possibly he was justified in taking so much time but, this homeowner just had his lanai enclosed with glass windows so I don't think money is an issue. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what if anything can be done. This home is a terrible eyesore and sticks out like a very sore thumb..

Whether the homeowner has the money or not doesn’t matter. Call community standards and don’t feel guilty about it, the homeowner obviously doesn’t.
He may be in a legal dispute with the original roofer and was advised not to repair it until settled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have a friend who rents in Daytona Beach. He has been waiting on roof repair since Irma. It's possible the insurance company provided the tarp and requires it stay put until a professional contractor can do the repair. Most homeowners wouldn't leave the tarp on for the heck of it...imo.

GE's previous post about this situation made me post my reply. It is a shame that many things in many places haven't been taken care of yet. Some measured in weeks, some in months some in years.

probably and insurance and or contractor problem. I doubt he's just setting there fat, dumb, and happy that the tarp still over his roof? Or again maybe he's renter or squatter and DGAS?
