Default Bottled Water

On the news this morning they showed people in the Villages buying water. Do their faucets stop working during the storm? Or do they have wells? Always wondered. Len

Many people without water filtration systems don't care for the taste of the water(chlorination)so buy bottled water.

Just so you know.

Some of the people who have the filtration system still buy bottled water.

My answer to that is Yes Dear! I hear you, Dear! You are always correct Dear! Immediately Dear 5 more case from Sam's. Yes, Dear! Has to be Aquafina. I hear You Dumpling, Sugar Pie, Love of my Life!

I'm Whipped and I love her so onward we go.

I agree to much chlorination in The Villages water. We have a whole-home filtration system which eliminates that chlorine smell and taste. Also use reusable water bottles for travel. Most bottled water is just filtered city water bottled same can be accomplished by using a simple Brita or Zero water system.

Is the water on sale before the storms? If you don't have a filtration system what difference does the storm make?

One reason is that the storm could cause lightning that disables the water system. Last year, during a fierce thunderstorm, lightning hit our very large Sylvester palm, traveled underground and blew out the water main across the street.

I’m curious as to why anyone cares how you spend money, and on what. If golfing we use tap in metal container. Going outside of the bubble we take bottles, cause it’s cheaper than $2.98 at the gas station

I thought the people on TV were buying water for the storm. Sorry if it seemed like I was worrying about how they spent their money. I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong by not buying water. For the storm.

another reason is that there are times the water provided by the city/county becomes tainted so you get used to buying water.

We use the filtered water from our GE fridge. Besides Fuji water, our fridge filtered water tastes better to me than any other bottled water. Before the storm I fill lots of receptacles, (water pitchers and such) so I have enough water in case the water supply is interrupted. Really no need to purchase bottled water and I lived in South Florida for 24 years besides the years we have lived in The Villages.

Since I didn’t quote a post, it was not directed to anyone. When we Costco shop we buy 3 cases of water at a time. Not stock piling, we only make the trip about ever 5-6 weeks. So when I see people buy couple cases of water, at a time I would never think anything about it. Plus I don’t expect the behavior of others to change mine.

We hail from the north where dead of winter we could lose power for 10 days. Didn’t panic then, so a hurricane doesn’t change much for us. Wonder with the aging population here, a lot in their 70s, 80s, makes some hoard maybe out of fear. But then again our parents in their 80s still in winter wonderland have never hoarded ( well they do have 3 shovels, 2 snowblowers, one light weight for porch, deck and small sidewalk, and then Big Ben that can move 3 feet depth of snow while make the best sledding hill)

In TV if they were buying a pallet of products, that would be different issues altogether. We did go to an open house, and in the nook there was 10 cases of water. I found that strange and maybe not so unusual here

If the power go out, the pumping stations have generator. We lost power for 20 hours a couple years ago still had water BUT NO COFFEE.

My villa has no filtration system and even after Zero water filtering the tap water, it didn't taste good. So I go over the top and zero filter bottled water at all times, not just for storms. Tastes like pure water now.
