I just received a letter from Comcast that they will be reducing the amount of programs to 2 that we can record at the same time and storage will be reduced to 20 hours effective April 6th. Of course you can add DVR service for $10 per month.
What will they think of next?

I use YouTubeTV. The show recording is done by them online, no DVR, and no limit to the number of shows you record or number of hours of recording. I think they "save" every program and then you are just linked to this recording if you tell them. You can watch on any device and any number of devices.

You need an internet provider and could keep Comcast, just cancel their video (which probably would get them very excited and possibly they would back down or lower the rate). Or get a cheaper internet provider (who will also probably try to get you to sign up for a TV service) we use CenturyLink. There are several options in the Villages, depending upon where you live.

It seems we are playing a game with the internet + TV providers. Even for rate hikes, couples can alternate being the primary person. So when your 3 yr contract is up and the rates are / have increased, just cancel (if they let you without a rate reduction) and have your spouse call up and sign up as a new customer - so you get the discounted new customer rate.

Yup ... been doing that for probably over 20 years between ComCrap & Fios up north and just became "new Comcrap subscribers" for the 3rd time down here. Costs me the same (or a bit less maybe) for ComCrap "double play" than YoutubeTV + Comcrap 400Mbps Internet. Only other internet option here in Amelia is 25Mpbs 1990's era DSL. There is no fiber here. I just swap between me and my wife every 2 years. The best "keep me" offer they offered was about $15 more than new sub. Oh, and as for price increases YoutubeTV has had a few in a couple years starting at $45 and now $65. They all go up.

I got feed up with less service and paying more dumped Comcast. Got more channels, smaller and update equipment, faster internet, 2 cell phones for almost 1/2 what I was paying comlast and ATT. There lots of alternatives out there seek them out if you’re unhappy. In few years streaming going run them out of business anyway.

I would dump Comcast, there internet slow when compared to century link.

T-Mobile has home internet for $50 flat, no fees or taxes. It includes no data caps and throttling. T-Mobile has lots of 5G throughout TV although their 4G is quite fast. I get 100 mbps in my house over 4G which is more then enough to stream multiple 4K video. Also there are no contracts to sign, no equipment fees and no hooking up cable wires. They send you a 5G/4G modem and router free of charge.

Since T-Mobile's merger with Sprint and acquiring low band 600 mhz which is excellent for in building reception they have really become much better.

I would only imagine the other cell carriers will offer similar home internet and competition is good for the consumer and may once and for all humble Comcast and other providers.

It sounds like you have a non-DVR Xfinity box that only records a minimum amount of content on the cloud. But, the basic Xfinity DVR service allows 6 simultaneous recordings and up to 150 hours of content, and also live TV features like pause and rewind. If you are paying for cable and you watch and record a lot of television, the DVR service is worth the extra cost for the basic DVR box and service. My opinion.

I’m even considering Xfinity wireless to see what sort of bundle deal might be possible. Anybody out there using Xfinity wireless?

Not a fan of regulation but its become increasingly clear that it’s time for government regulation of cable and the internet. They have become a necessary utility in today’s world.

If you want your credit rating dinged call Centurylink. If you to deal with an **** call Xfinity. If you want cheap and good go to tMobile internet gateway on your browser and signup. $50! No grief. Free modem. No rental fees. Autopay or veterans pay $50. Tech support is very slow, but aren’t they all. Mine is not super fast, but works for 3tv’s and a computer Signup up for youtubetv or Hulu. Enjoy
