Can anyone tell me what kind of snake this is? When it's stretched out it's a little over 3 feet long and skinny.

Looks like a Black Racer to me. I can't believe I'm saying it but this is a GOOD Snake!

These are a very common sight in the Villages and they eat mice, rats, etc.

No matter what kind of snake it is, it’s still a friggin snake. They all give me the hibby gibbies. My favorite kind of snake is a dead snake.

I would take a few off your hands, as we have had rats in out garden this winter.
I had been putting down over the counter, so called Rat Poison, but to no avail. I swear the stuff was full of steroids, as the buggers just seemed to get bigger.
Finally called in the local pest man, who put down the real stuff, and they were gone in a week.
I would rather have a few 'nice' snakes, than rats!

We have a regular bald eagle out back that watches our pond and several hawks so I'm hoping one of them will see it and take a dive at it. I do not like snakes, good or bad, they are hard on the heart.

Golfing Eagles fully supported us with information and offered to send us a Bag 'O Snakes so we could sample what we would be facing when we arrived. He threatened to send it anyway!

Snakes are a non-issue overall. We are always aware of our surroundings and are aware when we move the cases of water we store for Hurricane Season. We found some very impressive Snake Skins when we were sprucing up the front of the house yesterday. Seems they like to hang out around the Ten Pink Flamingoes in the front yard.

Speaking of GE, in his backyard, I over shot a green with an approach shot. Walked over the green, down to the swamp weeds and was met by a monster. My guess, 4-5 inches in diameter & 4-5 feet long. I could feel the old sphincter pucker on that one. Bye Bye Callaway ball.

GE always did comment about the cost of the anti-venom shot.

Rubicon once said that people in The Villages have to get their Ball Retriever Re-Gripped several times a year. If I saw one snake that size on any Golf Course I think I would Doo The Dew Pucker and hit the road.

I saw a real creepy one swimming by the edge of the water at Freedom Point while playing frisbee with our dog the other day. Snakes freak me out in general, but especially in the water. We got out of there in a hurry. I have also seen a couple of highly venomous cottonmouths at the preserve fence line in our back yard. We will never bring our dog into our back yard and always do a snake check in our pool before swimming.
