Default Missing Packages

Where do missing packages go? Are they like socks or Tupperware tops? Amazon says they delivered a package to our parcel locker on 8/17. No package and/or key left in our parcel locker. Left a note for mail carrier but have not gotten any reply. We continue to get other peoples packages and make sure we get them to the correct address. If anyone has come across a package for 5579 Brett Way could you please let me know. I'd be happy to pick it up. TIA

If you don't receive the packages, I think Amazon will replace them. If not, I would dispute the credit card charge with my bank.

Make an effort to speak with the mail sorter. I have found them to be very helpful when I asked.
Our station has a slot for mis-sorted mail, no need to deliver to the correct address.

I posted a thread on here a couple of months ago for the same issue. My mailbox is at Chula Vista. Had to escalate my lost packages (more than one) to the Manager at the Post Office in Lady Lake. Long story, short: after escalating the problem up to the SunCoast District, did get some help but it was short-lived.

Since then have received other's people packages (I just go deliver to their house), have also just this last week had another of my packages say it was delivered to my box and not there & no key. Printed off the tracking info and took to the Lady Lake PO and spoke to a Manager (Matt). I will note I had previously tried to talk to our Carrier who was in the back of our boxes, but she refused to talk to me and said it wasn't her responsibility to find misdelivered packages.

Found out from Matt that they use a contractor service Carrier for packages. He tried to get ahold of the guy on the phone and couldn't reach him. Matt said he'd go up to the boxes to see if he could find my package and then call me within a couple of hours. He did just that. Found my package in another person's box and then put it in mine. Also he STILL had not heard back from the contract carrier.

Will make another note that while I was standing at the post office waiting for Matt to first try to reach the carrier, two other women were speaking with another person at the post office and they had 3 packages missing. It had been a couple days and the post office had given up trying to find them. They were being told all they could do was file a claim on-line. They were very angry and frustrated.

If it's priority mail then there's insurance where a claim can be filed. If it's not, then many times you're out of luck. Many products on Amazon are small business sellers and can't and shouldn't be held responsible for the incompetence of the post office. Postage was paid and the USPS is responsible to deliver. If they don't, they should be the ones to pay for the product and the customer -- us -- shouldn't have to go through the frustrating hassle of filing out claim forms, etc. In fact, the Carrier should have to complete the claim form and then they'd probably learn to be more careful when delivering packages & mail.

Don't know which post office box location you're at, but you're not alone in the frustration of frequently missing packages or having to go redeliver. As for their "redelivery box" -- had a letter for someone else and wrote on it "not at this address, return to sender" and the carrier just put it back in my box. I had to take it to the Post Office and explain and give it to one of the clerks (envelope return address looked like it might be something important and it also said "don't forward").

Our granddaughter lived with us for a short time. She was expecting a package because she had received a text message that it had been delivered. When we went to the postal station there wasn't anything in the mail box. She noticed a package setting on top of the newspaper sales container and it was her package. Apparently the key for the package box had been placed in the wrong mail box and whoever that mail box belonged to just put it on the newspaper box. Didn't have the courtesy to even try to do something with it so that it didn't become stolen.

I disagree that the seller should not be responsible if you do not receive a package. If the seller chooses to use the USPS as their delivery agent, then they should be responsible if you don't receive the package. I think if you dispute the charge on your credit card, the bank will back you up on that. Non-delivery is a disputable issue.

The contract worker for USPS that handles packages does a crappy job. I too had a package delivered, it apparently went into the wrong locker box, and I was out of luck. The postal worker was little help. I tried to file a claim online but was denied.

My two cents worth. A guess the person is selling on ebay. I used to but no longer do so for several reasons. Main on being when I did it I was selling the way too much stuff I had in my home. On ebay most everyone pays with paypal. Almost no matter what paypal will take the buyers side. Claimed non delivery and they simply take the money from the seller. I used to charge enough on shipping to cover insurance. A buyer can and some do threaten a seller with negative feedback-your reputation as a seller.
A seller can no longer leave negative feed back for a buyer. The worst scam artist in the world, if they only buy will have 100% positive feedback. Most people are honest NOT ALL ARE. Thou shalt not steal. For many they read that as you can't steal from me but it is fine for me to steal from you. Others, many others, I wouldn't steal from a person but stealing from a business that is fine.

Not sure I understand. USPS, whoever shipped it, what ever it was, did they pay to have it insured? Did they pay for tracking? As far as a claim, I've not done this in a long time but,
If, I recall for some reason they will not insure photos. Perhaps, irreplaceable? Valuable stuff-coins, gold you can at extra cost, of course, send it out, I think it is called registered.

You can call the post office talk to a HUMAN. I've found them knowledgeable and helpful.
ON LINE? I've been wrestling with ATT a monster computerized company. Aside they have a great talking computer. I was not sure, so I asked, it and confirmed it is a computer. I directly asked for a HUMAN. It went back to how can I help you?
A lot of work to do it. I got through to a HUMAN. Insisted on a manger and I got it done.

Stress does not effect your health. Stress that you cannot do anything about does.
Reality, we are in the computer age. I would be lost without mine. THEY ARE KILLING US AND PROGRAMMED NOT TO CARE.

The OP said the package was ordered on Amazon, not Ebay.

We are on "Informed Delivery " with th3 Post office. Tells you everyday what mail has been scanned before delivered including Amazon...HOWEVER NOT ALWAYS correct. 3 or 4 times a week missing something. We've been waiting on a Credit card for 3 weeks. Called Bank 8 times...their excuse is ...the banks.... is the post office.

I always try to shop on Amazon, if the package gets lost, or you never receive it, they will send you another one, or give you a refund. Sadly, I do not trust the USPS anymore, they don't have a good track record in delivering my mail or packages.

We had an issue with a package as well and went to the actual post office for a trace. Come to find out, the package was delivered to our MICHIGAN address instead of the Florida address (an issue with the order placement, oops!) Try them for a definitive answer.
