They aren't the only ones. And they employ a technology that allows drilling at an angle allowing encroaching more toward what IS available to the USA.
We are married to OPEC....don't want to offend them....don't want to make them mad. It is so easy to just stay stupid and not pursue energy independence. With all the new jobs associated with such a pursuit. Just another opportunity to show leadership and Obama chooses to do business as usual....even though pursuit of energy independence was one of his (many) campaign promises...you know say what ever will either get him elected or keep his job. Cuba obviously has more leadership than Obama. btk |

What, do you really think Obuma cares if Americans go to work? He has more lofty goals.

I do not take the bait anymore. I am not going to get into name-calling and addressing other posters. Instead of fighting back I just click on the alarm. I am tired of people trying to push other people's button. Doesn't get us anywhere.

That is very good. If you follow through with this, the board will be greatly improved.

I am always amazed at the lack of interest in this very, very important subject here or any where else.
We absolutely have the ability to free ourselves from the foreign oil dependency, yet we do not do it. It is an absolute certainty that by pursuing the energy independence there will be hundreds of thousands of new jobs created. We know that life in the USA will improve for millions. We know the deficit will be reduced by billions. What we don't know is why we are not doing something about it. Another one of those simple solutions that has been pushed to the back burner time and time again for more than 40 years.....and we the people are content to allow it...eventually it will be too late. More proof politicians will only do what is in their personal or political interest....what other reason could there be? What will it take to get the lazy Americans to demand action in this area. It solves so many of our problems. Why NOT??? btk |

Would these be the same shackling regulations that still saw the Exxon Valdez and Deepwater Horizon disasters?

Do you know of anything really worthwhile that doesn't involve some risk? Do you know any quicker way of boosting the nation's bottom line than accelerating our own energy production.......(instead of being sheeple and watching our right to natural resources being drawn off by competing nations) |

Have to agree with the lack of leadership and comprimise with the offshore oil drilling issue...Even though BP was found guily by the investigators in negligence and possibly criminal activities, I think this is the exception..
I remember as a kid watching the oil derricks right on the beach in southern Cal. I recently saw a PBS show,I think it was "this old House" where they are drilling in residential neighborhoods, and disguising them very well..I believe it to be safe, and it has been going on for at least 100 yrs in the most invironmental conscious state in the Union..Fl has not bought into it and the Gov recently said no again...I say "drill baby drill". Of course after 9/11, if we had gone after the right country (Saudi Arabia), then maybe we would be able to own the oil industry we found and developed. Remember always, the bombers were mostly Saudi's and it has been proven that they were financed by members of the royal family...Wishful thinking I guess,as this would have been a real donnybrook, and the US doesn't have the stomach for that.. |

One would think it does not take much intelligence to get out from under the thumb of the mid east oil shieks, kings, prices and who ever elase belongs to the clan that has us over this barrel:
http://news.yahoo.com/us-saudi-relat...185142549.html Instead of working at trying to make sure we don't upset them why does Obama not take the opportunity to do something right and show leadership? He really does have several golden opportunities to rise above the business as usual starting with being able to announce our intent to be free of the mid east oil...what an opportunity to demonstrate leadership...what an opportunity to truly point to an action guaranteed to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs. Like those before him...it ain't gonna happen... as long as we the people continue to be OK with nobody in Washington doing anything about it. One day when the oil supply is truly interrupted for what ever reason...and we do not have gasoline or jet fuel or truck fuel...it will be too late...the ones who say it will take 10 years to see a difference know what a disaster it will in fact become...even here in TV bubble. Do you know how many 10 year periods are in the last 40 years? That our dependence has been allowed to almost double. when the interruption happens...it will be too late. btk |
