I learned from another TOTV post about an new phone./Internet/television service in The Villages. Does anyone know much about BRIGHTHOUSE? I had Comcast but we discontinued their service after their refusal to give us a discounted rate vacation mode) for the five months we would be in NY.
Wasn’t sure what we would do about service when we returned. Thinking Dish/ Vonage and whatever. Is Brighthouse a reliable option. Any feedback appreciated.

Update: After checking out the Brighthouse website they seem to indicate that their service is available in our area. I also know have more questions than I have answers. Hard to believe that when the two services are in some kind of a partnership and competing in the same market! http://brighthouse.com/central-florida/default

Yes, Brighthouse is being offered in Sanibel. We signed up with them to start after we close on the 11 th. Been with Brighthouse for over 10 years, and overall, have been very happy with them. For more info, you can call our sales rep, Lysander, at 352-414-6756.

We called bright house and sadly they don't service St James. We've had both in different cities we have lived and feel brighthouse is far superior

CenturyLink, phone, internet and DirecTV. Great service and priced right. Give them a call, you might be well pleased with what you hear.

Since everyone [it seems] has cellphones these days, why would anyone want a home phone too... Cellphone goes wherever I go, has voicemail and call screening. We make lots of international calls ($.02/min w/skype), so it seems less expensive too.
I'm sure there are some good reasons, but I haven't had a home phone in a long time. Just wondering . . . |

If you have century for internet only you can still get incoming calls and then use cell for anything else. Also gmail has free phone hook up till the end of the year

Another neat thing about being able to transfer the home phone to my cell phone is that people don't know that we are not home if they call the house and we are out of town. It's a really nice feature. I was with Centurylink for a time, but find Comcast far superior. I have always had excellent experience with them and am very satisfied.

And to an additional serious point, we've got a landline at our home in OH, only because of the monitored security system we have. My understanding is that the security system won't 'talk' very well with the monitoring center if it's trying to communicate via an internet-based phone line. Not saying it can't be made to work, but the feedback I've gotten is that it's not as reliable as with a landline. We got the least expensive landline option we could get - no options, no frills, no long distance.
If it wasn't for that, I'd ditch our landline. Bill ![]() |
