just before Thanksgiving?
Here is a horse biased article: http://our-compass.org/2011/11/29/ob...ter-in-the-us/ Other writings on the subject will try to sell the notion that this is better for the horses that get shipped to foreign countries to be slaughtered....the selling point is they are less humane than we are. I guess the horse protectionist groups and lobbyists were beat out by those who stand to gain from this bill being passed. And yes, there is a commitment of significant federal funds to help get these slaughter house up and running. The bill was signed by Obama using the "autopen" while he was in Asia. He certainly has his priorities right doesn't he? Another one of those quietly handled tasks that the public just does not need to know about. btk |

As far as the money flowing from the lobbyists, have you ever seen a report or even a rumor of lobbyists lobbying and making contributions to the President of the U.S. in exchange for his signature on a bill...any President, of any party? I sure haven't. So what's your point? Are you criticizing the President or the Congress? |

yes it came from congress as they always do.
I did not say any money flowed anywhere. I did refer to lobbyists who by the way are trying to revive a $165,000,000 business here in the USA. And yes the states the sponsoring lawmakers are from are the ones who stand to gain the business back. And yes I am guilty of bias, being a family that has been in the business of horses for many years and whose children all raise horses. The reality side that will not get printed are the facts that when horse slaughtering is restored, people can get up to $500 for a horse sent to slaughter. That will bring out the folks who will exploit being able to make money this way. It also breeds criminal elements that will in fact steal horses to send to slaughter. I take back one item from my post and that is, the issue is starting to get some play in the news....not the television news networks. btk |

The point is, I was replying to a commentor who asked why Obama doesn't do something constructive.
Tracking down and eliminating Bin Laden is "doing something constructive". You may not think so, but for those who lost a loved on 9/11, that is doing something pretty constructive. You follow that? |

You may want him to fail, you may not want him re-elected, you may disagree with everything he stands for...but I can tell you unequivically...he is not a idiot. On the other hand.....
