1) Because of the action of the 9 non-elected people, Obama will try to stack the SCOTUS much like Pres. Roosevelt did.
2) Pres. Obama will attempt to bypass the "do-nothing Congress"to the point of nullification. 3) he could attempt to set himself up as our dear leader. 4) the results could be civil war. I think this is a totally bizarre conspiracy theory but listen to the rhetoric. Things seem to be falling into place. Do you think we have reason to be nervous? Just a nightmare I had last night. |

1) Which SCOUTS will the president try to stack, the Boy Scouts or the Girl Scouts?

Recall the civil rights riots, of the 60's 70's.There are many fringe groups here foreign and domestic in fact our demographic has changed from those days. A majority of people from every soci-economic background are ill at ease very tense and tired of a an idealogue as president and a do nothing Congress. So all one can do is remind his neighbors that we are a country governed by laws and one which respects the minority view...and then pray, pray a lot |

Supreme Court of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There could be openings in the US Supreme Court just going on the ages of some of the Justices. Not sure how any logical person though could get to a civil war based on openings in the US Supreme Court. My nightmares are usually more entertaining than yours, it sounds like. |

You just told me on another thread that there would be no openings...?????? To be accurate you exact quote..... "And what is President Obama going to do about it if the US Supreme Court overturns Obamacare? It is just the President making noise. There probably will not be very many opening in the Supreme Court in the next 5 years or so." That quote is from 3:03PM from the thread "Obama's "warning to the Supreme court"....Now you post this at 4:20PM...confusing |

That probably depends on the idealogical leanings of the older Justices and who gets elected for President of the United States in November. Republican Justices would probably hold onto their offices for as long as possible if President Obama gets back in.

Some years ago, comedian / actor Robert Wuhl did a nice, 2-episode special on HBO called "Assume the Position". He basically went into a college class at (I think) Columbia University and ran a couple of classes about things we didn't realize about American History.
The stories are fascinating and, in some cases, hysterical. Remember, though, at the time, Bush was President and so many people were moaning and crying about how Armageddon was upon us with the way Bush was running the country. Wuhl showed points in history where it was actually much worse - and, yet, we "got through it". He then went on to later say that, no matter how worried you are about Bush - "we'll get through it". Well, I would apply the same words to those who think Obama has us on the precipice. We'll get through it. If you get the chance to catch a re-run of this, it's well worth it. |

I think there is/was more negative chatter about the Bush years after his terms ended than during. A lot of it created and still continues by the current administration and it's loyalists continually playing the blame game and offering up the well worn....gimme a break doncha see what I have inherited.....
When Bush was in office there was no Obama that had to be continually propped up with yesteryear negative anecdotes. btk |

Yeah, no kidding. Bush couldn't blame any deficits on Clinton. There were none. He couldn't blame bad unemployment on Clinton - it was 4.2% when he took office, peaked at 6.3% in June 2003 and was 7.8% and rocketing up (750,000 jobs per month evaporating) when he left.
Inflation was at 3.7% when he took office in 2001. By the time he left in 2009, he had several months that year at an annual rate hovering around 5% - which plummeted to DEflation (due to the recession) within months of Obama's inauguration. By almost any measure, Bush left office with a country in FAR worse shape than he inherited. |

ilovetv: No, I haven't forgotten. That's why I ignored some of the spiking stats right after 9/11. The math of starting two wars (one justified), huge tax cuts and the Prescription Drug plan just don't add up. It's also why I didn't mention the abomination known as the "USA PATRIOT Act" because that was passed with a very compliant Congress.
Cmann: Well, let's see, we gave Reagan 8 years. Conservatives gave Obama far less. Does anyone know offhand when Palin made the "How's that hopey-changey thing working for you?" speech? Reagan inherited a mess. Obama inherited an unmitigated disaster that almost sent us into a depression. Reagan made deals to get what he wanted. Obama tried and almost got there a couple of times with Boehner, but the Tea Party freshman put the kibosh on those. Reagan supported tax hikes, amnesty for illegals and a whole host of things that today's conservative finds repulsive. And although I've done it elsewhere, I wasn't doing a 'blame Bush' bit. I was responding to the statement that Bush didn't spend time "blaming Clinton". True - because there wasn't much to blame him for. |

you left out the most important reason which was the just of my post...most responsible, accountable people take what comes with the job and get on with it....Obama being a classic non responsible, non accountable, non leadership Potus, started out the first day blaming Bush or anybody else.
I wasn't asking what they inherited or not from who ever. As usual my posts are critical of how Obama does not manage/lead. btk |
