Default Nothing Better To Do

You may have missed this important announcement of a Senate hearing to be conducted tomorrow at the Capitol.
The Senate Commerce Committee, chaired by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D.-W.Va., will have a hearing 2:30 p.m. Thursday on "Medication and Performance Enhancing Drugs in Horse Racing" in Washington.
Let's see, there's the staff time to select the witnesses, prepare for the hearing, the time spent by the Senators, more staff time to document the hearing, and the expenses to bring the chosen witnesses to Washington. Yes, witness travel expenses are paid by...you got it...you and me!

So the Senate Commerce Committee apparently thinks the health and well-being of race horses is a more important issue than...oh maybe designing some much-needed improvements to ObamaCare...or beginning to discuss changes to entitlement programs...or how about what to do about the expiring Bush tax cuts or damaging spending cuts at year-end.

Y'know, if this happened in a profit-challenged private company, when told about something like this, the boss could reasonably be expected to say, "...wasting time and money on a hearing on WHAT? Who called the hearing? Give me his name." We all know what might happen next.

Ridiculous!

Heck, they could look at the backlog of bills they have sitting there...hey, maybe they could consider the one on illegal immigrants scamming our Treasury...the one that Reid will not allow discussion on.

Of course, it is important for bettors....I would imagine in Nevada it is a big deal, right ???

And this quote of yours "Y'know, if this happened in a profit-challenged private company, when told about something like this, the boss could reasonably be expected to say, "...wasting time and money on a hearing on WHAT? Who called he hearing? Give me his name." We all know what might happen next." makes me shudder as we just gave these guys control over our healthcare

Why would the Senate discuss the ACA? Today the House repealed it.

So, that's it. It's gone, right?

The Speaker Boehner led house of representatives just wasted another day voting to repeal The Affordable Care Act for the 33rd time. Of course, they never mentioned how they would replace it.

They wouldn't replace it - they have nothing to offer. Health care is too complicated an issue for the Weeper and his stooges. You'd be on your own.
The House would be giving the uninsured the middle finger.

Of course they have and so has Romney. Rep from Maryland was on public radio this evening talking about how they did it in Maryland....keeping kids on your policy....pre existing conditions, etc but not a mish mash of stuff like this law. Please do some serious reading instead of...well instead of not reading.....the alternative is allowing the states to handle it and they can with ease and really address the COSTS which are STILL RISING despite this bill.

It is nice now isnt it.....READ WHAT YOU WILL PAY FOR IT that we cannot, never could afford.

And what I hear because of the 20 some taxes being built into the law and the SCOTUS calling the mandate a tax, it will be much easier to insure the coverage while working out what it was supposed to be about before Obama made it politics meaning repealing taxes will make it easier.

Enjoy, but I suggest you read how YOU are going to pay and you will pay and pay and pay.and pay unless it is repealed and redone correctly.

ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 28, 2012) – Governor Martin O’Malley and Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown today released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on the Affordable Care Act:

“President Obama and Congress chose to pass the Affordable Care Act because the status quo was hurting our ability to create jobs, expand opportunity, and protect the health of our children and parents.

“In upholding the Affordable Care Act, the U.S. Supreme Court chose to protect the lives of millions of Marylanders and millions of Americans. American businesses will be more competitive in the global economy with lower health care costs and a healthier workforce. Parents will be able to keep their children on their health care plans until age 26. Seniors will avoid the Medicare Donut Hole. And by 2014, no American will be denied health care coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

“Today’s decision gives considerable momentum to our health care reform efforts here in Maryland. What it does not – and indeed must not – do, is give us license to take our eye off the ball or slow our progress. Moms, dads, and kids throughout Maryland are counting on their elected leaders to continue the mission of lowering costs, and improving the quality of care.

“We remain as committed as ever to moving forward on behalf of our families. We must move forward, not back.”

Perhaps as our government just spends and spends and spends...they may be making announcements like this..

"The Spanish government unveiled €65bn worth of tax increases and public spending cuts as part of a deal to secure European aid to rescue its banking system as thousands of miners marched on the centre of Madrid to protest against austerity measures.

Facing heckles from opposition politicians Mariano Rajoy, prime minister, issued stark warnings about the risk to Spain’s future as he announced a rolling back of unemployment benefits, an increase in value added tax would rise from 18 to 21 per cent, and cuts to local government to achieve the savings over two and a half years.

“I know that the measures that I have announced are not pleasant but they are necessary,” Mr Rajoy said when announcing what is his government’s fourth set of austerity measures in the seven months it has held power."

Yeah, and other news today about several cities in California, San Bernadino was one, that are completely bankrupt. Another city, can't remember which, but it was good-sized I recall, has reverted to paying its police, firemen and teachers the minimum hourly wage and has completely cancelled any contributions to pension funds.

And The Senate is talking about how to properly medicate racehorses!

Yeah. So let's give these clown-boozers control of all OUR healthcare financing and delivery (while they keep their 26 PRIVATE insurance "cadillac" plan choices, with 75% of their premiums being paid by the dwindling proportion of workers actually paying federal income tax).

Don't forget, this is California, and what is causing their problems.
  • Lots of goofy resolutions passed by a greedy and uninformed populace, almost all cutting taxes and increasing entitlements.
  • Extensive regulation of almost everything.
  • A state legislature absolutely frozen by political division, unable and unwilling to address any of their fiscal problems in meaningful ways.
Sound familiar?

Just change California to congress and state to federal. You hit the nail on the head.
