Not from upstate but Long Island. I still hate hearing this type of weather. Tornadoes up there are rare at best. What in the world is happening with weather lately?

They are telling people to get into basements .......away from windows, etc..
If they live in mobile homes, they are warning them to get out and into something more substantial........

Straight line winds........large hail, rotation / tornados...........

This same storm is actually heading east right towards Vermont.........but it should be pretty bad in N.Y.State until 7:30 pm
I used to live in that area, but I still have several friends and relatives living their. One of them just posted on Facebook that they've taken shelter in their basement. Hope they and everyone else fares well!

She also stated that power was out at the Crossgates Mall at the end of the Adirondack Northway and that a couple of funnels clouds were spotted in the area and possibly one near the Albany International Airport near the tower.

In 1998 a tornado passed through our area that ripped off the awning of our park model in the campground we were seasonal in. Our friends right next to us had a tree branch fall onto their trailer and another trailer on their other side was flipped over. Thankfully my wife, son and I were not there at the time.

The friend I referred to in my last post just posted a picture on FB of a tree in her back yard she believes was just hit by lightning!

The Villages Florida

Looks like things are clearing up now in the Albany area:

Default Family in NYS

All of my family lives in upstate NY. My sister lives in Greenfield center and my mom in Queensbury and my other two sisters in South Glens Falls. I spoke to my sister around 7:30 this evening and she said there were tornado warnings all over. I haven't spoken to her since to see if anything came close to her. For anyone interested, if you go on line and type into GOOGLE " cbs6 Albany", on the left hand side there is a list of options to pull up. Click on Live Stream and you can watch the local.news from up north at 11:00 pm, noon and 5:00pm. That's how I keep up,with my home town area.
