We are currently with Preferred Care Partners. (An HMO) This is accepted by the Villages doctors at Colony. We are heathy, and it has worked out well for us and saved us about $400 a month over the supplemental policy we had. Husband did have some surgery last year. Loved his surgeon, and he had a great recovery.
If you have a lot of health concerns, expect to have frequent hospitalizations, or if money is not an object the supplemental may be a better fit. For us Preferred Care Partners works.

We have the Preferred Care Partners - HMO as well - works for us and we are healthy - it has saved us alot of money - we checked out various plans - I think it all depends on your health - do your research.

There is one other consideration in terms of choosing a plan like Preferred Care Partners besides the three given above: it works well also for those who are Villagers more or less 24/7/365, as it can get really costly to seek medical care out of the Preferred Care Partners (or other HMO) network. If you expect to spend considerable time away from TV, whether in the area where you moved from, traveling, or whatever, conventional Medicare plus a supplement plan might be a better choice.

This is what I have, and it works well for me, as I do move around a lot, and as a PPO I can get my care anywhere Medicare is accepted. Other than the premiums, which are pricey (over $100/month for Medicare plus $180/month for the supplement--figures approximate), Salybow is right in that absolutely everything is covered! It's worthwhile to point out that every Medicare supplement plan of the same category (say, Plan J) is identical to every other one, the only difference being the amount of premium. Makes no sense, but that's the way it is, and the AARP United HealthCare plan is the one with the lowest cost (at least here in FL; could be different in another state).

Good to get ideas for other folks...that being said though I'd suggest going to the Villages Insurance offices (they're located at Colony or LSL) and speak with an agent there. They can refer you to whatever type of insurance best suits you. As an example...when we first came to T.V. I had Secure Horizens mainly because of my medications etc. But then a couple of years ago we both signed up for Preferred Care Partners as it was a better fit for us. It would save us money over the long-term plus there is no co-pays for the tier one drugs. You get back money into your SS each month and more. Speaking with an independent insurance agent will enable you to make your decisions. Oh...and with PCP you would have to be a Florida resident.

This is the plan I have also and love the coverage. My husband has Preferred Care Partners and had a lot of problems with getting his cardiac surgery approved in a timely manner. PPO, rather than HMO, is the way to go, in my opinion.
