Yes he was, but Paul was the spokesman for the group. While John had a tendency of saying the wrong thing, it was Paul who was always politically correct without stepping on anyone toes.

It doesn't matter. Brian Jones was the one who started The Rolling Stones. BUt Keith and Mick took over and Brian became somewhere disgrunted. Whether he killed himself or was murdered is a mystery we may never find out.

Paul was by far. Paul could play all instruments and played drums in Ballad Of John and Yoko

Elvis or the Beatles: The answer may lie in the birthdates of the responders. I was born in 1945 and remember Elvis' first appearance on Country Hayride and his subsequent appearances on Steve Allen and Ed Sullivan. He was the King when I was a teenager, while the Beatles didn't come along til I was in college. My guess is that many (not all) of the ones who feel the Beatles were greater were a little younger than I.

I repectfully agree to disagree.
Born in 44. I remember Elvis being great but I think The Beatles were greater as they affected a cultural change. IMHO

Now that one would start an argument. But maybe because M.J. played in an era when I was older (The oldcoach Ed theory) Being born in 1948, I missed the impact Elvis had as I didn't really get interested in music until 1963. I remember the commotion and my older sister carrying on like a crazy person when Elvis was on Ed Sullivan. God...how many times did she play Heartbreak Hotel on her record player.
