Default One Hit Wonders

What are your favorite one hit wonders? I'll start with Pete Antell "Night Time" and Stonewall Jackson "Waterloo". What say you?

On my youtube channel I have 64 one-hit wonders in a folder, too hard to decide on one.

I just looked up one hit wonders on Wikipedia, and there is a list there from VH1, listing VH1's version of a top ten. I guess they are one hit wonders for a reason - of the ten listed, I never heard of two of them, and only one is listenable ("Come On Eileen"). I wouldn't listen to any of the others and would change the radio station of any of them came on. I do like "Come on Eileen" though.

Spandau Ballet-True. Love that song. Lyrics still make no sense to me after all these years but I love it.

There are a ton from the 80s.
a-ha "Take on me" was a very innovative video for its time and one hit wonder.....

Good thread idea BTW!

I went to Wikipedia and VH1 has 100 one hit wonders. The top 25 are the following; VH1's 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders

25) Kajagoogoo - Too Shy
24) Devo - Whip It
23) Chumbawamba - Tubthumbing
22) Wild Cherry - Play that Funky Music
21) Gary Numan - Cars
20) Thomas Dolby - She Blinded me with Science
19) Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vid18)
18) Sinead O-Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
17) Twisted Sister - Were Not Gonna Take It
16) Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper's Delight
15) ? Mark and the Mysterians - 96 Tears
14) Deee Lite - Groove is in the Heart
13) Van McCoy - The Hustle
12) SirMixaLot - Baby Got Back
11) Debby Boone - You Light Up my Life
10) Nena - 99 Luftballons
9) Gerarado - Rico Suave
8) A-Ha - Take on Me
7) Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
6) Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out
5) Toni Basil - Mickey
4) Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy
3) Dexys Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen
2) Soft Cell - Tainted Love
1) Los del Rio - Macarena

Every song here I remember well, some were really big hits, #23 was the only one I had never heard. After listening to 23, I would say it didn't belong on this list. I would nominate 96 Tears should of been #1.

Circa 1990 Alexandria Bay NY. "Power hour" at the Islander. Free drinks 5 - 6 pm. The evening band would play a teaser set at power hour and resume at 9 pm. The band was The Mutt Band (Lester Gates). The band played 96 tears and asked if anyone knew the band that made the song a 1 hit wonder for free drinks all evening. My good friend and marina partner shouts out Question Mark and The Mysterians. Needless to say we called the wives to drive us back to the marina long before 9 PM.
