Default Village Survey - ideas on things to include?

Please post your ideas to share with TOTV so we can add to our own survey....I would like the Chula Vista putting green to be large enough to practice chipping....They also have a tendency to bunch flags together on the green which produces some very "unfriendly Villagers"

I would like to see the speed limits on some of our roads, like Rio Grande raised to a reasonable number. 25 mph on a road that is a major thoroughfare between Avenida Central and Morse and has no driveways is absurd.
35 on Morse and some of the other major roads should be at least 40. Do the towns and counties need the money from speeding ticket that bad?

A reasonably priced gym or chain needs to come to TV like Planet Fitness.

Singles get two I.D.s instead of one as they pay the same amentites as couples.

I recently had the experience of taking my mobility scooter from my home in Hadley to the new Colony Health Care Center. In order to go there and back I had to use the tunnel to cross over to the south side of 466a. I found it a bit uncomfortable that someone could come whipping around the corner in a golf cart to enter the tunnel or that coming into the darkness might not see me with their eyes not adjusting quickly enough.

This got me thinking that with the new Colony Health Care facility in addition to other businesses there, that it would be nice not only for me but for anyone walking, riding a bike or using any mobility equipment, if a cross walk were added at one of the traffic lights to safely get from one side of 466a to the other... preferably the one between MacDonalds and the gas station. I don't think that would be a very expensive proposition to ask for!

Do you know there is a large indoor pool in The Sharon Morse Building beside the Hospital? The property is not owned by The Villages, as far as I know. The pool was formerly used by MVP before they relocated to SS Square. The pool has been sitting unused for three years.

2BN: We do have Anytime Fitness gyms all around us in Wildwood, Summerfield and I believe Leesburg. We also have a gym in Fruitland Park, right off 466A that is a lot less expensive than MVP.

Bare, I'm not sure who owns that building with the pool but MVP had nothing to do with it. The Wellness Center moved to SS Square and a while later they sold the Wellness Center to MVP.

I walked by that building the other day and thought it was so sad it was completely abandoned and not used. My comment on the survey is that the Villages open it up again to the residents and can even charge a monthly fee for it. I think we would be using it a lot.

Thanks Mayor.

I am glad to hear that as I thought my only option was the Planet Fitness in Ocala and that's too long a drive.

The gym in Fruitland Park is called Infinity Gym and they have classes whereas Anytime Fitness does not. They only have gym equipment but very good gym equipment. I've been to the one in Summerfield, not too far outside the villages, but the Wildwood facility is closer. Easy parking too.... and, your welcome...

I'd still like to see a Plant Fitness, since we're already members. Its the only gym I've ever felt completely comfortable while exercising.

Default Grandkids playground

There needs to be a larger playground with lots of equipment in The Villages that is golf cart accessible for visiting grandchildren. Something on the order of the one on Powell Rd which is not golf cart accessible.

I think this thread is a great idea and will be a good place to keep a running list of recommendations for the survey. Might I suggest that in-depth discussions about the pro’s and con’s of individual recommendations be spun off onto their own threads so that this one doesn’t get derailed? I’m not saying that because of anything that’s been posted so far...actually, the thought came to mind as I was about to ask some questions about something, but thought better of it because I didn’t want to hijack the thread. Anyway, just a suggestion. I’ll ask my questions in a separate thread.

Why not a modern playground with age appropriate play structures and plenty of shaded seating for grandparents/parents in each major area of the villages...

Northern area (north of 466): alongside the walking trail adjacent to/across from the dog park or in the open areas south of the Polo fields or the other side of the fenced softball field

Central area (between 466 and 466a): at the Lake Miona Rec Center, in the area on other side of the slope of the basketball court.

Southern area (south of 466a): at either of the two new regional rec centers.
