Actually, the last time I went the check in girl asked me how fast I wanted the governor set, they would do up to 25. I asked "Isn't that illegal?"---she was clueless. I told her 20 was fine. Of course, I tend to get passed by about 1/3 of the carts.

Even a below average owner can do it. (please don't ask me how I know this)

The governor on gas carts is mechanical and can be adjusted by the owner.

The governor on electric carts (at least the newer ones) is a programmed setting. Devices to change those settings exist but they may be expensive or difficult for the average owner to obtain.

I traded mine in for a Tesla to go faster than any cart. However, I now can't travel on the MM trails but that is no loss for me. I am enjoying the FSD but still keeping a eye on everything as gates are still an issue.

It’s great that a person without a golf cart has over 20 posts on this thread.
Wildwood will/has ticketed a street legal cart in a diamond lane for being in the wrong lane.
Speed is not really a problem. It’s being distracted and no common sense that is.

Carry on.

Default Bathroom

I just assumed people flying by me were in search of the nearest bathroom! I let them pass out of consideration for the alternative..............

Are we just supposed to Know the speed limit is 20 in a cart- and is it?

If you're doing 19.9mph in your cart in the mmp lane and they think that you're a slug for not going faster, that is their problem! And their problem is mental. It truly that simple. If they are able to catch you, then they can pass you. You are not the problem. They are. 😉
Have you ever driven over the speed limit in your car?
Of course you have.
Do you apply these same views to yourself?
Of course not.
Is it hypocrisy or a problem standard?

And that's a real possibility, especially here in TV. But there are those, some on this thread, that label such a person a "criminal" and advocate for a police state to catch and prosecute them. There are those that get outraged if they get passed, even if they are going 13 mph themselves. There are those that will blow through a stop sign to be first, then crawl. People should stop worrying about other cart's speed, or who's first, and just drive normally. If you get passed, so what? If you want to go 13 mph, have at it, but don't be surprised if you get passed, sometimes with a salute. If you are going 20 and get passed, so what? Don't get your undies in a bunch and don't plead for Big Brother to visit from Oceania. Frankly, my dear, it's none of your business. And worst of all, don't claim that "criminally speeding" at 20.1 mph leads to a life of armed robbery and murder, you just make yourself look more foolish than usual.

My guess is that excessive speed occurs mostly on the streets, rather than the MM trails. Once the speeder gets out onto the street, they try to keep up with the car traffic. Just something fixed in their brains.

Doesn't matter. Cyclists don't obey any traffic laws anyway.

And make the necessary modifications to the cart to qualify it as an LSV. Just paying the fee isn't all that is required.

Since you felt the need to ask, by 320.01(1)(a), 320.01(22), 320.01(41), and simple common sense, yes. Bicycles or electric bikes that can go 30mph are neither golf carts nor low-speed vehicles.
