Default Horrible golf cart driver.

I drove my golf cart ahead of an obnoxious golf cart driver on my way back from getting gas at one of the Southern Trace Shopping Center Shell stations. Stopped at Parr Drive to let the traffic on Belvedere-- including an emergency vehicle which was not in any hurry--turn left onto Parr. The guy behind me started cursing and saying stuff like "What are you doing!" I had to wait some more for additional vehicles turning left onto Parr Dr and the golf cart driver behind me got even more impatient and loud with various epithets.

The man had a New York accent and was in a yellow golf cart. He was also wearing a softball team uniform. This was about 1:50 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012.

Could not tell which NY Borough he was from as I am not that familiar with NY city accents.

I finally could safely cross Parr Drive as there was no more vehicles turing left onto Parr from Belvedere. The rude New Yorker did not bother to even stop at the stop sign on Parr just gunned it and tail gated me for a while still cursing and the like.

I got to the left hand turn going into the gate on Belvedere. I had to again stop at the stop sign and wait for three or four motor vehicles to pass.

When it was my turn the loud mouth again did not bother to stop at the stop sign but again tail gated me across Belvedere and into the golf cart entry of Belvedere gate.

He fortunately turned onto Churchill Downs but still seemed to be fuming for some reason. Kept on asking "What do you think you are doing?" in between various cuss words.

Anybody else run into this nuisance golf cart driver who yells at other golf cart drivers just because they actually stop at stop signs and yield the proper right of way?

This man seems like either an accident or heart attack waiting to happen.

He did not seem that familiar to me, i.e. I cannot think of why any Villager would act this way around me for any personal reason.

Brown haired man maybe 65ish. Loud New York City accent. Softball player. Probably lives somewhere in Belvedere. Yellow golf cart.

Whoa, looks like the winter crowd is showing up earlier each year-

It seems like when the snowbirds come in I'm always getting yelled at, usually NY accents (and I am a NYer).

I had something blow out of my cart, so I pulled over to pick it up. An older type guy (with a NY accent)with a woman and another couple screamed "That's a hell of a place to park" threw his hands in the air, made a face and gestured. I like to take the PC higher plane approach so I diffused the situation by saying nothing more than "Whatever RETARD".

I think these people are retired NY cabbies.

Do what my grand father always did if someone was tail gating or blowing their horn. He'd stop dead, get out of the car, raise the hood, stand there looking in for a few minutes, close the hood, get in and drive off. And he would always smile and wave. I wish I could do that but I don't have it in me.

That intersection of Parr and Belvedere is an accident waiting to happen, not because of the golf cart drivers, and not because anyone is being pushy or rude. Just the opposite!! I often see a car turn from Belvedere onto Parr and then STOP to let the golf carts cross. I have visions of the next car turning in rear-ending the one that stopped to be nice.

Not the same issue the OP had, I know, but one really, really has to drive (cart or car) defensively around here, probably more than anywhere else I have ever lived.

I probably would have pulled over, let him pass, then wish him a good day. Drive him crazy!! And I would much rather have an idiot like that in front of me than behind me.

I love that idea. Unfortunately, with the kind of road rage I have seen and is described above, I wouldn't take the chance of stopping which would allow that ticking time bomb more of a chance to get physical with me, possibly with a gun or knife.

Everyone in The Villages is reaching an age where dementia is increasingly likely. I've heard of people, in the beginning stage of Alzheimer's, still driving their cars. And I'm sure there are many more of them driving golf carts. One characteristic of some people in dementia is that they can have fits of anger and rudeness. So try not to take it personally.

We're up for sale in a SMALL imitation of TV community in Tennessee. Cars and golf carts share the streets. Last year a couple of hot heads, one in a cart and one in a car, got into it at the end of our street. The guy from the cart reached in the window to grab the driver of the car who had a pistol and shot and killed the cart driver. HOLY CRAP !!!!!

Buy the way, the last time I heard "FINK" was 1966. WOW !!!!

Around 9:30am this morning I saw 3 police cars with lights on parked at the roundabout going into Canal St. toward TooJay's from Stillwater. We asked our server at TooJay's if she knew what happened and she informed us that a man in a golf cart got irritated with another man riding his bike on the cart path and intentionally knocked him off!!

Does anyone know if this is true??

That is exactly why I fear confronting close-up a driver having a fit of Road Rage.

When I see it I tell myself to turn off onto another street and let the guy "own the road". It ain't worth a confrontation. Sadly, sometimes when I've pulled off onto another street thinking "it's all yours", they turn and follow to continue their unwarranted rant anyway because apparently it's not the road they want. They want a victim to overpower. Scary stuff.

BTW, that's not only in TV but most places.

I saw the police get this man at Starbucks on LSL this morning. Three police cars stopped & brought him out to the street to talk to him. They called in to the office then had him drive his cart, we think to the sheriff's office because one of the cars got behind and followed him. I asked one of the guys at Starbucks what happened and they didn't know either. So that must have been your guy.

Next time one of these incidents happens, take a picture of the person with a camera phone, etc. and post it here. Unfortunately, there will always be a next time.

UM...my theory is that their mother's didn't beat upon their fannies when they acted like that when they were younger. All OHIO mother's would have.
