NO, unless you want them to take money from you in another way, maybe a county tax.

The tax exemption will benefit folks the most whose homes are valued around 500K or less. What's not to love? If we try it and it fails, they can always tax us more down the road. IF it works, Florida again becomes the model for the country. Love being a Floridian! It's not perfect, but it is a way sight better than many many states.
I moved from CT to Florida. Cost of living, taxes, housing is much higher up there. You need to be upper middle class plus to live up there. But CT is progressive. Florida is regressive, no freedom here. No book banning in CT . Better school system IN CT, Metro North train system is great, better education system in more affluent districts. I would like to move back but can't afford the expenses up there. Heating your home in the winter up there cost hundreds of dollars per month.

People considering buying. WOW. We had time to plan. The world is the option. There are happy and unhappy people everywhere. This place is amazing. Reading the posts. Imagine if the inmates were running it.

Also it is likely that will be ruled to be illegal. This thing was dumb from day one. If it passes my real estate taxes will reduce, but those with the higher value homes will carry the burden. "Legal Controversies: The 5-year residency waiting period faces major legal challenges. But, But, But.

But I trust people in Tallahassee.

But it will eliminate my property taxes.

But I should not have to pay property taxes.

But the local county & local city are wasting tens & tens of millions of dollars.

But the advertisers say it's a great deal.

But I don't want to think about "how".

Yep, all true. And also, I suspect that if it doesn’t pass, we will all still see an increase in taxes. Whether private business or governmental entity, all have to grapple with the best way to offset increased costs of operations, inflationary pressures, natural attrition, needed capital improvements, etc. Most times, cost reallocation, containment, or reduction strategies are not sufficient. Increased revenue generation is almost always required, sooner, later, or consistently, to remain in existence and fulfill purpose or goals.

Lots of pontificating on this and other controversial topics this past month or so. But, it is like everything else in this hyperpartisan country in which we live. Whether this amendment is a good thing or not depends overwhelmingly on whether or it its particular sponsors line up, color-wise, with the people doing the pontificating.

It's going to be funny when it doesn't pass and they raise your taxes anyway. Sucker.

Florida is great! Most people here have common sense. No one wants to live in those "progressive" states any more, thus mass migration out of them.

Hasn’t happened in the last 7 years, no reason to believe it will begin if A3 goes down.

Not the first time I’ve identified as “no one”. ( or is that more appropriately No One?)

I’m one of those who doesn’t want to pay taxes but absolutely recognizes what the taxes can provide. I had to make a choice and here I am.

As of today it is VERY close. On Point has it barely passing at 60.1%. Amendments 1 and 2 are sailing on through. Attached is this morning’s poll.

I voted No. I know that before on this forum I was all for Yes but I reconsidered due to my wife. She is a habitual user of an amenity that the county provides. I haven't used it since moving here, but I'd hate to see that degraded for her sake. No it isn't a big parking lot.
Funny thing is, she voted Yes due to a mixup. The sample ballot, which I marked up for her at home, had a different layout than the actual ballot. I told her to vote No on amendment #3 and Yes on the others, but she voted no on some Marion county question.

So people on the inside giving info or 100 person phone survey. I love those, plug in Yes. I could change my thoughts after the survey…

Why would you find that amusing? Do you honestly think anyone is expecting taxes to NOT go up? Of course they will. Taxes go up. Inflation goes up. The cost of doing business goes up. Salaries go up. People get raises - and someone has to pay for those raises.

I fully expect taxes to go up, with or without Amendment 3. However, I expect my PROPERTY taxes to go up a few bucks - and not have to ALSO be billed for individual line items for things such as the public park. I also expect to not have to worry about a new sales tax for my town/county.
