Ok, I'll admit I'm bias to begin with because I like solar electric.
![]() The Patio Villa we're renting for the week came with a new Yamaha cart, never drove a gas cart before. ![]() First it smells anyone that says it doesn't I just don't believe, and yes in the tunnels it's worse, ![]() and now it's not that crowded around here. When behind another gas cart it smells twice as bad (theirs and yours). Secondly noisy, I've read here that they are not, again not true, they certainly are noisy reminds me of my sit down lawn mower at home. This should be called an egg beater not a cart, it vibrates a lot, the canopy and other parts rattle. Last point for any cart, my cart at home I cut the steering post 4" it is much more comfortable to drive I forgot how high the standard steering wheel height is. .Just my opinion folks

We have one of each. Gas carts are economical, dependable and responsive.
If forced to choose, I would keep the gas. We had our exhaust pipe moved, we have a four seater . You don't spend that much time in tunnels. I think your goals may be causing you to prejudge. ![]()

It sounds like the cart you have at your rental really needs a tune-up. |

We had a similar experience while renting a few years ago. Rental came with a gas cart and like you, we found it very stinky, loud and rattled a lot compared to our elec back in Georgia. We bought a new elec when we moved down for those very reasons. Our elec will only get about 60 to 65 miles on a charge, but so far that has not been a problem. As a matter of fact, I have never seen ours below the half way mark. However, if money is a concern, I do hear a lot about the Gas being less expensive over the long term, i.e. 10 years or so. For us spreading even a few thousand dollars over 10 years for the convenience of clean quiet comfort was a no brainer.

Vote gas cart here. You can drive, drive and drive with that cart.Next month will try driving it to the Georgia state line,on one tank of gas. No smell that you complain about. Tunnels ,you are thru in 4 seconds. Just pass carts if you do not want to be behind them.

Sorry, but I must disagree with you. Our neighbor has bought one of the new Yamaha's that have been redesigned to be more quiet and less smelly. YES it is better than the old models, but it still smells and it is still loud and clunky sounding when compared to an elec cart. If you are in the open air within 5 feet of the exhaust pipe of anything burning gasoline it is smelly.

And you should. They have the best reputation of any cart rather gas or elec. Yamaha does not do well in the elec cart category, but they take first place when it comes to gas.

When we had company we rented them a gas golf cart. If I had based my golf cart experience on this cart i would have purchased an electric cart. Thankfully, we already purchased a gas cart so I knew that not all carts were like the rental one. The rentals are very low end. Gas carts are louder than electric but we love our gas cart and we never have to worry about getting stranded due to low battery. I'll take my gas cart over an electric any day!

We have two electric carts and at this point would never own a gas cart.

Have 2 gas carts for last 2 1/2 years. Use them a lot . Obviously noisier than electric, not particularily smelly. No stains on garage floor, no exploding batteries, no anxiety over remaining battery charge. Like the quiey smooth drive of electric, but will wait for a few years for improvement of range and better recharge options.

Jimbo, when we were down for our Lifestyle visit, we experienced the same issues with the golf cart that came with the patio villa. My husband was totally frustrated. Our friends told us to call TV and ask them to exchange for another. Since we were only down for a couple of days and spending most of the time with our salesman, we only used it one time. If we had been there longer, we would have definitely asked for another cart!
