I agree with all your points, and we own 2 (yes, two) electric golf carts.

BUT.....you don't have to worry about running out of juice in a gas cart......I need to think about how far I am going and if my charge is up to it.

I love how quiet they are!

The Patio Villa we're renting for the week came with a new Yamaha cart, never drove a gas cart before.

First it smells anyone that says it doesn't I just don't believe, and yes in the tunnels it's worse,
and now it's not that crowded around here.

This should be called an egg beater not a cart, it vibrates a lot, the canopy and other parts rattle.

Last point for any cart, my cart at home I cut the steering post 4" it is much more comfortable to drive I forgot how high the standard steering wheel height is.

Sounds like you just got a bad one that needs a tune-up. Our gas cart is great. Yes it is louder than an electric cart, but we can climb hills with no problem and no reduction in speed. We don't have to worry about plugging it in or if the batteries need replacing. We also don't have to worry about having a mat underneath it when it's parked so we won't get those rusty looking battery acid drips on our garage floor. We don't smell it at all. Once you do move here, give both gas and electric a try. Many, many of us prefer the gas carts for many reasons.

How do you really feel about gas?
While I like the idea of electric and have driven the GEM vehicles in Michigan we chose the 2013 EFI Yamaha GAS.
No odor in the garage; some odor and noise when driving.
I think all golf carts vibrate; more from the tires than the engine.
Mine has the 14 inch wheels so the ride is prob. not as smooth as 10's just like my car has 20's and its not as smooth either but dam (sp) it looks good.

I have electric-love it. When I moved here I noticed there aren't many gas stations that I could drive a cart to. Firing up my beast 8 cylinder SUV to go buy gas seemed stupid, so I got electric. The way I do it is I have an egg timer, set it at 45 minutes and figure I can go 45 minutes out, 45 back and throw in another 1/2 hour getting lost. Have never gotten stuck and if I do I can call that towing guy.

I wish it had a built in charger, then I could charge up anywhere.

I loved my electric cart too. Until I got stuck in it 13 times in the first fourteen months. Then bought a second cart - gas. If going somewhere 20 miles or less I use the electric. If more, or at night, I use the gas one.

Battery Boys wired our two electric carts up with reducers and good batteries and we run ours many miles before the needle even starts to show anything but full charge. Our lights, turn signals etc. pull off ALL the batteries. The lights etc. also automatically turn off when key is turned off. Our first cart is on 4 years with the reducer without any problems. We go from one end of the Villages to the other and then a shopping trip with plenty of battery left.

This same cart before the reducer, had a 3 year battery life, and was limited in distance.

Gas golf carts are safer for pedestrians. The noise gives more warning than the electrics.

This is almost a political thread - the ones that like gas won't be swayed, the ones that like electric won't change their mind either and the undecided own both, sometimes taking one, sometimes the other.

This reminds me of the argument between a chevy owner and a ford owner, or us made or foreign made...no winners

Just returned from about a 35-40 mile ride, my position is the same, it stinks.

Now you guys may be correct it may need servicing, but since I leave on Monday I'm not going to do it but will let the home owner know it needs a checkup perhaps.

Needless to say our two electrics will be seen driving around after February with solar roofs.

Just curious, how many gas cart owners also smoke tobacco? That may explain not smelling the fumes from the engine. No flames please, I am just curious since I do not smoke and the gas carts gag me.
