Default Please stop posting rumors

It’s really bad how people will post BS as an absolute fact without checking the information first. This is how fake news spreads. Spreading such unfounded rumors can even lead to people’s reputations being ruined or worse.

If you hear something from someone (especially if it outrages you!), please check the information before passing it on. Or, at a minimum, start your statement with something like “I heard...” so people know that you aren’t certain.

As an example, my brother told me that COVID-19 can’t survive more than a few seconds as an aerosol in sunlight. That didn’t sound right, so after we hung up I looked for a source for that “information” and found none. I sent him a text asking where he heard it and he couldn’t find a source for it either. I suspect he heard it from a talking head on the propaganda network he listens to regularly.

If you aren’t positive of something, please check before posting what is nothing more than a rumor. Don’t be a rumor monger.

Agree and somewhat disagree. Agree that the post was incorrect. Agree that the developer has no "power", however, their money does have influence. If a 25% real estate tax increase is not proof I don't know what is. I would bet dollars to donuts a member of a certain family speeding down Morse Blvd. would not get a speeding ticket.

There IS a huge difference in having 'legal power/authority' and having 'massive/undue influence'...due to a number of reasons.

Often, having lots of money is the primary source...of that influence.

Back up north if you knew a LEO you could get a "get out of jail (tickets) free" card AKA PBA card and it DID work although sometimes STATE (not local) police would not like it and tear it up and still give you a ticket since state and local PD's didn't always "appreciate" each other. Like many things these days it's WHO YOU KNOW.

We better wake up and look at what our government is doing ...they could care less about our safety. Just keep our hands in our pockets and keep smiling. Remember strength in numbers!
crazy post here--i see the deputies frequently pulling people over

Yes, to us they are. To each other not so much. Police chiefs and Sheriffs think they're better than each other and they both think they're better than those traffic cops, the State Patrol. I took the Forsyth County Civilian Law Enforcement Academy Program. It was given by the Forsyth County (GA) Sheriff's Department. You'd be amazed how competitive they appear to be against one another. Me - Cop, badge, gun, flashing lights and ticket book - all the same to me.

I have or should say had a friend in Conn who became State trooper..All changed once he got a badge went to his head.
He actually had a card he gave out to family members he told them if they ever got pulled over to just show it

They have their perks it's not talked about in certain circles... My own experience I was riding with a good friend a retired Trooper from Ohio not all that long ago..Right here in Wildwood he drove though radar in a school zone over the speed limit not by much
An officer up ahead flagged him over as well as another car. The officer politely asked for his licence and proof of insurance. He complied..On his licence was denoted as retired Trooper.
The officer returned said can't give a brother a ticket..Suppose I'll have to let the other one go also
