is definitely one of the factors, and that gives us the all important Vit D particularly when we are in TV. In fact I read in a mercola.com newletter that every disease has been found to have a deficit Vit D component. I guess that is why there is now so much talk about upping the old 400IU of D to I think it is 1000IU. I'm not a doctor, but I take 2000IU a day when I am up in Canada and then cut it down when I get to TV. Our eyes are so important that we need to give them all the support we can. Heck, our whole body needs the support ..... but don't get me going down that path!

This weekend we will celebrate a group of individuals who believed otherwise, and because of the ideals they held , you and i are able to live in the greatest country in the world.I realize this is a little heavy for a typical post on TOTV, but not to TV's who served in our military and the rest of us who are always asking WHY !
Since you quoted me in your post (Kool aid) I feel I should respond. I used the expression in the spirit of this thread, which I feel was light-hearted until it was hijacked.
I was a military man thanks to Uncle Sam's forced invitation in the 60's. I have experienced organizations and developments that were not operated efficiently, one being a condo association that ran in a hundred different directions.
When I visited the Villages, I experienced a well run machine and happy people. What more do I need? If I feel that I still have the desire to change the world, I would stay where I am and participate in the political process but my time on earth is getting precious so I will leave the world-changing to the next generation.
Little hint for you. My wife has been after me to temper my "pet-peeves". (I still have a few, but I find that counting to 100 and thinking nice thoughts help alot)

The longer you're here, the younger you feel. I just have to remember to step out of 'the bubble' once in awhile so I don't end up in the diaper and pablum stage too soon.
We used to live in Marlton, NJ. We are on our 9th house. The miracle water is in the Pennecamp pool.

I know what you are saying but if I do not like my job, I find another. If I do not like where I live, I move and have done so 10 times. I may be different but I never understood why anyone would sign up for something voluntarily and then complain about it. It is like marrying someone that has some habits that you do not like and then trying to change them.

I have lived in 7 developments where the residents had a big say. Know what happens? They vote for cheap. You end up with roads and other amenities in disrepair. In my last place they did not even reserve enough money to repair the roads. We were all assessed $800 and of course they went with the cheapest method with the result that the cracks and pot holes in the roads reappeared within two years. The trees in front of my home and many others were cut down due to a fungus infection. There was no money to replace them plus I now had a stump that the tree removal company never removed. They got their money and ran. No thank you. I knew exactly what I was signing up for when I signed my deed at TV. I do not join clubs because I do not like majority rule. My standards and preferences rarely coincide with those of the majority. I much prefer to find someone whose vision I share and then hang on for the ride. What I will not do is join something that I disagree with. When I joined the Army and they sent me to Vietnam I did not complain. I knew what I was singing up for and accepted all that my decision entailed.

So yes you are right. I do not care that I have no say. I do not want a say. I want to relax and have someone else make the hard decisions. If I do not like it no one is preventing me from moving. No one forced me to move here. I will not complain about my own decisions. You may believe and feel differently. The fact that we can all express different views and beliefs without fear of reprisal is what I fought for and what Independence Day is all about. I do not think I would risk my life fighting for our right to have a say in TV. :-)

KB, got to tell you, there is NOTHING like a good old home owners association (HOA) or elected selectmen both having a chairman with an agenda. And I absolutely appreciate the sacrifice our past and present military have afforded me but I just wish our elected or appointed officials did too.

Hi KB,
You have peaked my curiosity.

If I understand your post correctly, you question why TVers are not up in arms about how TV is governed. If you feel that we should be up in arms about it, I am curious why you are considering buying a home here.

Is it perhaps for the lifestyle, excellent amenities, beauty and quality of life? Because these are the very things that are nurtured and protected by TV's pecular governance. These are the things that have proven time and time again to be endangered when developers move out and HOA's take over.

The developer of TV is far from perfect. But we love his vision. We want it preserved. We chose this, KB. Yes, we honor those who died for our right to choose it.

I very much respect your right to find TV's system untenable. But if you do-- and if you can't understand how we could celebrate our Independence Day and chose this-- why are you consider making this your home? WHY !

One thing I have noticed since joining this board forum is that there is a concerted effort from certain individuals which seems to be 99.99% that have absolutely no interest in Living in TV. Their only interest is to bad mouth which appears to be because of some other motive, whether a competing retirement community.......or more likely.....a Andrew Blechman style vendetta against the Morse family.

Just my opinion, but you can almost tell by the venom dripping in the posting comments.

One thing of the things I learned while studying psychology was that people tend to denigrate or minimize that which they cannot obtain. Part of being human. I do it and probably so do most, of us. What I do not understand is why anyone not interested in moving to TV would bother joining this forum. I would have to assume that they are seeking validation of their reasons as to why they do not want that which they obviously do. In this case I believe that the OP made a statement that he needs to control his oet peeved so I take no offense or see the venom.

Default I often wonder why some peoples posts are so negative.

I like to have discussions about things ad nauseum but my very smart husband says, "What good will it do? It won't change a persons mind most of the time." He also says that you never win a p***ing contest.

It may be that some people need to attack to get sharp and angry replies, thinking they are more true, who knows?

I think that this whole place is way too good to be true and sane people just can't absorb it for awhile.

Oh, so now we're saying you have to be slightly unhinged to understand? I'll have you know I represent that remark!
