Anyhow, no harm was done and I hope I did not ruffle too many feathers. It was not my intent.
she might have been wearing a leather jacket....maybe even a bandana <shiver>

Default Contrarians

If you will notice, there are some posters who rarely post with any positive comments. They are invariably negative and unnecessarily contrarian. Just click on their names and go to their statistics and read their past posts. Maybe there is an award for the most negativity.

Hmm, If someone complains about complainers, does that make them a complainer as well ? Just a thought.

What do you call someone who complains about people who complain about people who complain? Where's this going? Just asking.

Reminds me of the statement Bill Clinton made: Depends on what the definition of "is" is.

Absolutely, that's a good policy, John. In that spirit, I would like to offer the following poem to lighten things up a bit. It was inspired by your words: "She was no spring chicken."

......No Spring Chicken......

Why did the chicken cross the street?
To get to the other side!
Sitting atop her bicycle seat,
away, away she did ride.

Breaking laws crossing 466,
she's been known to ruffle a feather;
but she does it for her two little chicks
who are known as Alice and Heather.

You know, John, I suspect I have seen this woman twice. The first time was several months ago. As I was leaving Publix she was coming in and she stepped up on the scale. She is so thin, I was curious to see how much she would weigh, so I slowed down and looked. She weighed about 102 pounds. Does that fit the discription of the woman you saw? Her bicycle was parked just outside the door.

Then about a week ago, I saw the same woman walking her bicycle after having crossed 466 near CVS. She was headed towards Publix. One thing I noticed is that she wasn't wearing a helmet. I remember wondering if she knew that she could be fined $77 dollars for not wearing a helmet. But now I'm wondering if she might have taken it off to cross 466. When you saw her, was she wearing a helmet?

In any case, if it's the same woman, I think she does attract attention (even when not breaking the law) because she doesn't fit the profile for the average bike rider in TV.

I always wondered about Rolling Acres Rd....I wondered if the difference would be that they would be walking with a cross-walk signal...Although I must admit, I've noticed many walkers and bicycles crossing between Petco and "5 guy's" but CARTS are forbidden....Hmmm!

Cool

Is it mandatory to wear a helmet when riding a bike but not a motorcycle?

Bike helmets are needed only for riders (or passengers) under 16 years of age

Thanks for setting the record straight.

We are coming down for a Lifestyle visit on the 20th of this month and wondered if we had to buy helmets to ride the free bikes. Will be careful to abide by the rules of the road lest we get fined. By the way ... exactly what are some offenses that you can be fined for on a bike?

Any good places to ride the bikes?

Being fresh off a Lifestyle visit I can tell you the free bikes come with free helmets, so don't bother buying or bringing additional ones.

I'll let the long time veterans respond about offenses and good places to ride. I, too, will be interested in that info, as I'll be closing in January....which reminds me....bring your checkbook!

Have a great visit!!
