Default Any Ambassadors out there?

In my mind's eye, I see myself working in some capacity on a golf course, such as an ambassador, when I "retire" just to get to meet people and to more quickly assimilate into TV culture.

If you are a golf course ambassador, please send me a PM if you would be willing to talk about your experience.

Thanks in advance,

Dirigo

From talking to several while waiting on the exec courses it is worse than being a mall cop - and pays worse. They are expected to maintain the pace of play without having the authority to speed anyone up or repremand them for not raking bunkers, fixing ball marks or even driving their carts off the paths. They need to give them the power to dock people points or suspend them from playing for breaking the rules.

I work at a golf course in Illinois. None of the guys who work there work for the money. They work for the free golf.

Default Golf Cop??

I work at two premier courses in mid-Michigan as a 'players assistant', (ambassador) for free golf and minimum wage. We maintain pace of play, cart rules, fill divots, litter control and match players with their equipment that may have wandered off. No real authority but the only thing I would do to quit this job is to become a frog at TV.

Free golf would be great but none of the men and women that work as ambassadors here receive free golf. They are all given 50% off the golf rates at the championship courses. Plus a few more discounts at other places.

I know several of them and they all enjoy their jobs very much. What more would someone want in life if they love the game. They get to spend 2-3 days a week riding around in a golf cart on beautiful courses making sure everyone is relatively happy. They occasionally run into someone who does not appreciate the position the ambassadors are in (when they are asked to move it along a little faster)....but other than that (at least from what I am told) it is a dream job.

The exact quote I got when I asked how they liked their jobs was "I have worked my whole life to find this job. I am the happiest person in the world! I work a few days to make enough money to play golf daily throughout the rest of the week...and a little money left over. Life could not be better."

I am an Ambassador here in The Villages. Great job. Yes it's minimum wage but where else can you go and get paid minimum wage to drive a golf cart around a course backwards and meet such wonderful people. I have gotten to know many by name and in the last 1 1/2 years I have maybe met 3 or 4 cranks. If you have a nice cheerful, happy attitude you get the same back. You won't regret applying for this job. Tamarindo
