Partially true. Actually the rule for “age restricted communities” is - At least 80% of homes must be occupied by at least one individual at least 55 years of age. My daughter has bought four homes in TV over the last four years and is currently 54 and has never been questioned about age restrictions. My unscientific perception is that TV has way fewer than 20% of homes occupied only by residents under 55, so being under 55 and over 20 should be no hindrance to anyone who wants to buy a home here.

I think it helps a lot that you have owned homes in TV, have snow birded and are already familiar with the lay of the land. You likely already know what activities you enjoy doing and where you'll shop for groceries plus which pharmacy you'll use and which doctors you'll see. You probably have a good idea which village you would like to live in.

My mom looked at The Villages for the first time ever when she was in her early 80's. She ultimately decided that an Independent Living apartment which provided a shuttle to/from shopping and medical appointments would suit her needs better. She was still driving at the time but wanted a good back up transportation plan in place and she really didn't want a home to maintain.

Good luck with what you decide.

Was wondering where this information is from? The original owners from the 70's 80's and even 90's have mostly moved on from the villages one way or another.
