Well. That too, howsomever, when you sign a legal document with deed restrictions of your own free will...you agree to be limited.

As long as you don't care that i am looking in your windows for the for sale sign I guess its ok. Gives new meaning to snooping and have an excuse to look up close at houses

Amen. A lot of people (and not just in TV) forget this when something they want to do comes up.

I think putting a sign in the front window is not in good decorating taste. For sale signs should be displayed in the window on the back side of the house. Who cares about the guy selling this house, he is not one of us, he is jumping ship.

What about landscaper and construction signs? They really make the 'hood look trashy, to me anyway.

When I signed the deed restrictions in Nov 2000, they clearly stated that I could display a yard sign. When was the vote to change the deed restrictions?

I've said it before. Yes we signed the Deed Restrictions but the powers to be decide which ones will be enforced. Just ride around ANY neighborhood and see how many violations of Deed Restrictions can be found.

Totally agree. This was not a deed restriction when we signed in 2003. Does anyone have a link to how the new deed restriction is actually worded. Will TV realty still be able to place signs ? Will other realtors ? Or is this only a restriction against those that are For Sale By Owner.

You should be able to find deed restrictions from the Villages' official websites.

This gives instructions-- Village Community Development Districts

You need County, District and Unit information.

I did find this too though-- VCDD Deed Compliance - Lake County

TV is made up mostly of senior couples who are getting more senior daily, then the day comes when only one remains. Often times the survivor needs assistance to accomplish daily basic needs. That survivor moves in with children as a means of survival. In the process the survivor needs to sell the home.

I personally would appose anything that would make the sale of that house more difficult. Life is already agonizing for this individual.

Nothing says "DISTRESSED NEIGHBORHOOD" louder than a bunch of For Sale signs. Drive around the rest of Florida to see what hard times look like.

When we see street north of 466 that has several For Sale signs our first thought is "what's wrong with this neighborhood"? This is what the window-sign rule is designed to avoid. MLS realtors use window signs south of 466 and have no trouble selling houses there.

Actually, the lamppost signs were mentioned as excluded in the deed restrictions and are OK!

My agent did go through the restrictions with me so there would be no surprises and it was pretty much what I expected. I don't necessarily agree with every single thing, but when we live in a community of this size, we all must adapt in some way and there has to be compromise. I am OK with that, I think, and hope that feeling will persist once I have moved in and have lived there for some time! If you really are unhappy with the deed restrictions, then
perhaps you need to seek out some neighborhood where they are not so stringent. Not passing judgment here, just don't want to see someone living where they feel uncomfortable. We all need to find our own happiness, wherever that may take us. TV can be a stop along the way or a permanent solution!

Thanks for the links. It seems that it was a deed restriction but they have not really enforced it until now. It does seem like it will be across the board, No Villages Realty, no outside realty and no For Sale By Owner. So we will see what happens.
Off topic, there is also a deed restriction that states they we shall notify the Developer when leaving our property for more than 7 days and notify him at the same time of our expected return date.......should we enforce this one , too ??
