Question Ban on Home For Sale signs

It seems that the in-the-ground For Sale signs on posts that are so common in TVs have been banned in favor of only "in the window" signs. I heard the ban started South of 466 and now it's Villages wide. A Vs realtor told me, but did not know the reason.

Any input? Thanks

I recently received the deed restrictions for Unit 209 in Sumter Cty and in section 2, point 16 it states that "one sign advertising a property for sale or rent which shall be no larger than 12X12 inches located wholly within the house and only visible through a window of the home" may be allowed. no lawn ornaments either, so I guess the Travelocity gnome won't be stopping at my house...

This was all aimed at the private pre owned sales and the real realtors, they were eating into the profits.... The villages can use there media outlet monopoly to promote there pre-owns. The rules are to always to put more $$$ in the pockets of powers to be.... We are the unending supply of dollars for them if you drink the koolade. This is a great place but it is not heaven or at least I don't live in the fantasy that it is. Gota keep ur hand on your billfold! Or at least I have to,, no koolade for me

I went to an open house today for a home listed by an MLS agent. She told me the "for sale sign" ban takes affect on 6/15. I'm just a wannabee, but if I like a certain village and see a for sale sign, it might prompt me to call. I know all listings are on the internet, but I like to see a home up close and personal. Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree with Villageshooter ... in fact I think that this new "rule" is complete BS!!

Now the next 15 of you can get all hurt that someone dared to speak ill of your beloved The Villages, act like someone just urinated in your corn flakes and tell me to leave as well.

Fact is, I would if I could and will as soon as I can. I hate this inland wasteland. The only thing that keeps me sane is mtn biking and Centergy at MVP Athletic.

What changed your mind about TV? Assuming that you liked it when you moved there.

Taken literally, that would mean that all our lamp post signs with name and house number are no longer legal.

Default real estate yard signs

I don't know about you but I have never heard of anyone buying a house because they saw a yard sign. I have always thought them ugly and brings down the attractiveness of a neighborhood. I see absolutely no value in them. When someone buys a house they go to a realtor and check the mls, they don't cruise neighborhoods looking for signs. I read recently that sale by owner is less than 3 percent of all sales and that would be the only reason to put a sign outside. I think realtors use them only to appease the seller, look I am doing something for your money.
So I say good for any community that bans those eyesores.
