Hello,
I need to join a beginner... exercise class and/or stretch, (I'm not a wimp, but close) line dance class, (I can electric slide) yoga, (though I have some experience) I have lots of class types on my bucket list, including art, clogging and would try just about any other beginner class...if you have ideas... Thanks |

Also, take the time to read through the Recreation News in today's Daily Sun. Many, many choices. You work at your own pace. Have fun and welcome!

I'm signed up for a beginner's line dance class that starts the end of the month through the Lifelong Learning College. Someone told me the paid classes are more controlled and smaller than the free classes. The class I'm taking cost $28. I have two left feet but I thought it would be fun. I thought the price was beyond reasonable. Like naneiben said, have fun!

However, this is a really miserable time to try to take one of the free classes offered around TV. They are all, without exception, full to capacity and it would be very difficult for you to see the instructor or to really learn much at this time of the year. I would suggest you spend the money to take a good beginner class at the school, then after March 31 try out several of the ultra beginner classes offered in the Rec News. Do not start with Beginner, it is not really beginner, you need to start with ultra beginner, then when you are bored with that move up to one of the several beginner classes, and you can go as far as you want from there. I know that Jean does an ultra beginner class at 8:30am at Laurel Manor on a Thursday and Lisa does an ultra beginner class in the afternoon (today) Thursdays at Eisenhower. Whatever you decide to do, make it fun .................... and I forgot - there is an excellent website called www.villagelinedance.com which covers everything you ever wanted to know about line dancing in TV.

Great info about line dancing classes. Also, about taking a class through LifeLongLearning. I would really like to take a few free classes first, as I don't want to commit, I'm still going through boxes. So, best beginner yoga, stretch, arts, cards to try?
..knowing I'd have to get there very early! |

If you want to get your heart going a little and some light muscle toning, checkout out Zumba Gold. It's available everyday somewhere in TV. I go to Sterling Heights Rec Center every Monday at 10:30, the instructor is Elaine. I got into it about a year ago because of my wife and I try to do some exercise everyday of the week. It's on the light workout side and I look at it as, it's one hour of entertainment a week. I'm also the only guy in a class of 35.

How about taking a Walk Away the Pounds class? Very low impact and a nice pace.

Im doing the same thing!!! Different teachers makes it harder but I have just started so...
Doing ultra beginner line dancing. Lydia 1030 at Bridgeport Tuesdays, Jean's is too early for me...8 am Th at laurel manor. The rest are beginner and I tried that but too fast to learn the steps. The twins do an ultra beginner at noon Mon.at Colony but it really isn't ultra. All were very crowded. I also am trying Zumba Gold, same issues...going with Barb at Seabreeze at 1100, may try Lisa at Eisenhower as it is supposed to be easy beginner. |
