My husband had a bad "endo" many years ago. For those of you who don't ride, that means he flipped over and landed on his head. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance on a back board. Fortunately he only still has some neck pain. His helmet was cracked in 6 places. Please wear a helmet when you ride. If he had not be wearing a helment it might have been a whole different story. We might not be he enjoying life in The Villages.

Riding a bicycle on a sidewalk looks legal to me. By the way all bicycle laws apply to Segways to.

Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine
I bow to your knowledge and posting of the regulation. I will still maintain that it is unsafe for both pedestrian and bicyclist to be on the "sidewalk", not "sideride" and that since a multimodal lane is provided for such use should be used for bicycles. It will still tick me off, but will bite my tongue as I can't argue with a proven fact. Thank you.

And yet you seem to have missed this:"(5)(a) Any person operating a bicycle upon a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall ride in the lane marked for bicycle use". The implication is if there is a specific lane for bikes it should be used.

I'll be sure to run all of the stop signs in your neighborhood as well. I hope the Sheriffs will accept my excuse that if its good enough for the cyclists, it's good enough for me.

The OP was about riding on sidewalks, but whenever a similar thread gets started the anti-cycling lobby piles in with the same old tired comments.

If you don't find that boring, then good for you.

But it would be far more interesting for posters to discuss the matter at hand - cycling on sidewalks - rather than feel compelled to repeat their anti-cycling rhetoric ad nauseam.

And the number 1 reason I love old people: It makes me feel like I'm back in elementary school.

Wobbly riders, save both of us, use the side walk but people walking have right of way.

The novice biker should ride where they feel comfortable. Helmets are a personal choice. Since it does not effect me, be happy with what you decide

If the wobbly riders have enough skill to avoid them!It doesn't affect (yet) me because I've never encountered a rider on the sidewalk. But if I did, it would be easier for me to get out of their way than vice-versa.

Maybe all 30 bikers should have unclipped from the pedals and stopped at different times one after another, then you wouldn't have made it home in time for supper...

that is the absolute poorest excuse for breaking the law. bike riders are required to obey all traffic laws. I let 1 go then I go, if i hit a bike rider it will be their fault. and by the way did you see that dog riding his bike on the sidewalk crapping as he rode?
