Default Bonifay food - our experience

Took 3 family members to Bonifay for lunch to my embarrassment! Steaks were thin, fatty and profusely sprinkled with extremely salty seasoning. Service was ok, but waitress was new and had to shuttle to the kitchen with questions.

It used to be one of our favorite places for lunch or dinner but something happened once they opened Evans Prarie and it went straight down hill. Menu items were eliminated and it seemed the choices were reduced. Tried it for dinner a couple of weeks ago and it still didn't wow us. But believe it or not we had a delicious meal and great service at Havana a couple of nights later!!!!

this is unusual as we had lunch there on the 13th and it was just terrific.

Whether one likes (or doesn't like), prefers (or doesn't prefer), hates (or loves) a particular dish and the way it's been prepared is literally a matter of "taste". One individual's taste may differ drastically from the next individual's taste, and is influenced by many variables (including things that can't be changed) like culture, experience, and (things that can be changed) like what was the last thing you ate/drank that left a taste in your mouth, how hungry/thirsty you are, etc. I've dined at very well known restaurants that enjoy a great reputation and have been pleased one time and disappointed the next. Our expectations are perhaps the biggest influence on our pleasure/disappointment. I've dined at Bonifay many times and have not yet been terribly disappointed. One thing I recognize is that ALL restaurants occasionally have a brand new employee who is not yet familiar with their systems/protocols that can translate into "poor service." If someone is disappointed multiple times with the dining experience at a particular restaurant, it's best to move on to other alternatives, and perhaps return after a sufficient time has passed. For me, Bonifay has turned out to be a great neighborhood restaurant and bar. To each his own taste!!

The manager said "I'll go see what's going on in the kitchen." I don't recall having a steak cooked by a chef who used seasoning salt. It was almost inedible, and I love salt!

Had bad experiences in most of the cc's we've eaten at - the only one that has been consistent is Mallory.

Of all the Country Clubs, Lopez's Legacy has been consistency good time after time. In addition the overall decor and ambiliance is better than the other Country Clubs----just wish it wasnt all the way up at the other end of TV from where we live. We live close to Bonifay and it has been "okay" ---especially like the outside bar. You can get a mediocre meal anywhere and at anytime.

I can not decide if the food at some places we eat isn't as good or if I have just gotten tired of it because owe eat out so much! I suspect the primary problem might be the skyrocketing food costs. Maybe the restaurants are having to cut quality in an effort to keep costs down. I also agree that we all have different tastes and what might suit me would not be good to you. We recently tried a Mexican restaurant based on the reviews on this board and I did not find the food good at all! Apparently many found it pleasing!

Default a report from me...

We ate at Bonifay a week ago Sunday. My husband had a good sandwich and I had a good salad. Many were having what looked to be a good breakfast buffet but we were not hungry enough to have all that food. Was a bit surprised by the decor but it was all in all a good experience. Just had to give my 2cents since we actually were there.

Our dear granddaughter, the journalist, would suggest to the OP to change the title to...

"Disappointed in the meal we had at Bonifay. Have others had the same experience?"

I agree with above poster. I also think restaurants cutting down as food prices so high so they buy cheaper cuts and season it to death. My biggest complaint when dining out is no veggies. I love veggies, try to eat healthy and since you hardly get any, I think I'll start cooking more!! Just have to find the time. lol

My experience at Bonifay has always been positive. Never had a bad meal, and never had bad service.
