You can probably find lots of laws that don't make much sense.

Hopefully the Wine Police will avoid Sunset Park. We love going there to watch the sunset. We've never had wine in our Cart, just when socializing on the sidewalk.

Remember,Its not against the law to have a beer or glass of wine then drive your golf cart. Seems like lots of people here do not remember the 1960s we still do have rights. Reember this is not a police state, only california where they spray innocent college students protesting tutition hikes.

Exclamation Interesting

It is interesting that of 77 subjects the 3rd highest number of write ins is in regards to alcohol and in some cases the right to drink and drive golf carts.
This might be a good indication as to why raising the point is so important.
A question could also be rasied as to why use of "alcohol" is so critical to so many. I am not implyimg it is wrong to be a responsible drinker but to commit it to such a high importance as indicated by the number of people who are concerned relative to its control really shows the need to monitor usage and driving whether it is a golf cart, a car or a "soap box"..

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but didn't this thread start out about sitting in/on a parked cart at the squares drinking alcoholic beverages...not drinking and driving any mode of transportation? I don't see where the "use of alcohol is so critical to so many" any more than where dogs do their thing, noise after a certain hour of night, etc. to others.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Am I missing something? Don't you think those parked carts were going to be driven home at some point during the night?

Everybody at the square and in every restaurant is going to be driving home at some point.

It is against the law to drive when over the .08 limit on alcohol, but its OK to eat 10,000 calorie units of sugar and drive while going in and out of a diabetic coma. I would rather ride with someone sipping on a beer than someone drinking a McD's chocolate malt. Yes, alcohol slows down the response time of the driver, but so does driving when your over 60 years old. Using that logic a 30 year old driver who just had a few beers is still quicker than a 60 year old that had none. Like most thing, we don't address the problem, we just assign blame and not always to the right part of the issue.

I think an over medicated old driver is more dangerous than a driver drinking a beer behind the wheel.

So when the problem is the guy that crawls out of a bar and into the drivers seat is what we are concerned about, why give a ticket to a person sipping on the first beer this week just because he/she is sitting in the drivers seat. As you waste time writing that ticket, you are punishing the innocent person while the guilty one is weaving down the road.

It is like taking guns from responsible owners, rather than focusing on the crooks.

Can anyone give me a clear answer on this?

On the Multi-Modal trails, legally can I have an open container of beer and be drinking from it while I am driving my golf cart? I am not talking about drunk driving on the trails or reckless driving on the trails but talking of drinking a can of beer while on the trails in my golf cart.

I have asked the ambassadors at the golf courses if drinking a beer is allowed on the courses and they say it is okay as long as it is not from a glass bottle.
