You should seek medical intervention ASAP. Rabies is most probably not an issue, but a bacterial infection is. I've been bitten twice, and both times I was put on a course of antibiotics. Also, a thorough cleansing was necessary. Had to return to see the doc several times to make sure the wounds were not infected.

it seems likely that when "Grandpa" left the scene without giving out his identity and contact information, he upped the ante from a civil case, likely handled by his insurance company, to very possibly a criminal offense.

Yes...I agree ..In my humble opinion...file a police report. This is comparable to assault. This dog owner should be held liable and the dog banned from our parks. If you don't follow up with legal action it will only happen again to someone else

That sounds accurate. Probably depends a lot on what the dog owner does in the coming days. He should contact the person who was bitten by his pooch.

I agree, I actually got emotional reading it. How anyone could be such a monster is beyond comprehension.

To the OP, Call the police, this is a crime.

Wow!!! Really???!!! Regardless what caused the bite... leaving the scene certainly denotes the victim didn't do anything to provoke this...also, the pics were taken by witnesses so obviously they felt it was unjustified. I'm sure your dog is perfect though...sounds like maybe you might know this guy or maybe more....hmmmm....

Really? What would the side of the guy whose dog bit someone, and he left the scene?

I think "oversees" stretches what happens there with respect to the upkeep and supervision by the Villages Recreation Department. Unless things have changed a great deal since I have been to various Villages' dog parks.

You are on your own when visiting. There might be a busybody Villager checking your ID but very seldom did I see that happen.

If you seek medical attention (at minimum get an antibiotic) you will be required to complete a dog bite report that will be followed up by the FL Dept of Health or an animal control agency. It may be difficult until you can ID the owner, but they absolutely will contact the owner if possible.

This is a good idea. It's possible the people who run the place know him and his dog.
