Nobody on this site knows what really happened. Another scenario, what if the “victims” dog and grandpa’s dog where fighting and the “victim” got bit trying to break up the dogs? Hell maybe he got bit by his own dog in the process?
Point……….we will never know what really happened.
As usual I have spent way too much time on TOTV. Off for a walk in paradise. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

I have contacted the OP with the name and address of what I believe is the perp's get away driver. Let's hope he returns to this thread with an update.

My confidence level of this ID is at 90%.
Absolutely everything that any of you needed to do this was contained in the OP's original post.

I am sorry that happened to you. Please go for a tetanus shot. Yes, they will ask for the dog that bit you’d owner. That dog needs to be quarantined. Seriously, get a tetanus shot.

We are in the process of moving to The Villages, in Colorado, where we are now it is a two incident rule. Then the dog is put down.
This is from Florida and has some interesting information.

Nor did I imply that it was.. but past vaccinations are a pretty good indicator.

Not trying to excuse anyone either.. but people already talking lawyers and lynch mobs.. jeez. No wonder grandpa bailed

Which picture are you looking at and which shiny thing are you assuming is a rabies tag? And, as Number 10 GI mentioned, can you read the date to see that it is current? Either my display or my eyes are too old to make all that out. Skipping a consultation with a doctor and possible treatment for rabies exposure could be deadly - I wouldn't want to take that chance based on a "maybe."

So sorry this happened to you. Definitely go to doc. I was bit by a neighbor's dog years ago. It was an older dog, bit my thigh leaving a large bruise & some blood. And this was a bite through my jeans. Went immediately to ER, got tetanus (?) shot & cleaned up, no stitches needed. Neighbor very apologetic. Someone reported it to police, maybe the ER, and police visited neighbor; quarantined the dog. Everything turned out OK but it was a very distressing event. I'm a dog lover & to be attacked by one was unsettling. Hope your recovery, physical & mental, goes smoothly.

I go to that area every day with our dog and will certainly keep an eye out for that cart.

You MUST see a doctor immediately. go to an urgent care. my dog accidentally bit me when I got between him and a treat. it wasn't that bad a bite but was told it's important to get on an antibiotic. in this case if you can't find any information about the dog you may need to have rabies treatment. also, is your tetanus up to date?

And he's wearing a shirt that says "Grandpa"! I hope none of his grandchildren see this kind of behavior!

Once "Grandpa" is identified, and he will be. I hope someone posts his name so that his children and grandchildren, with the help of Google, find out what a true standup guy Grandpa is, along with his get-away driving buddy, Jack. I feel sorry for Janice.

Next Christmas Grandpa can share his lovely story. Grandpa, tell me the story about when your dog bit someone and while the victim was bleeding, you didn't show any concern about them and ran like the coward that you are with Uncle Jack at the wheel. Nice example Grandpa, it's all about you.

Default Follow Up

I did go for medical evaluation because my hand was bleeding and oozing fluid and of course it is very painful. They treated my wounds and I am now on antibiotics. I need to keep ice on it also. I was told that if it gets worse and shows any changes to go immediately to the hospital ER.

Since I have no information on the dog we don't know anything about it's vaccination status. There is a red tag on the dog but it looks very old and the shape may indicate the owner's residence. It really would have been a responsible gesture to simply provide me this information instead of running away unless of course the dog is not properly vaccinated.

By the way, medical clinics are legally required to notify the authorities about any dog bites and they submitted a detailed report. I should be hearing from them shortly. I have received information from people on this board as to who the people involved may be and that will be part of the report.

I do want to say that it is not my intention to hurt the dog . . . period. Owners of problematic dogs know they are problematic and should act accordingly. That dog was not properly socialized and should not have been in the dog park.

Thank you all for your help, support and kind messages. I appreciate it.

P.S. Yes I did get a tetanus shot two years ago.
