It appears to me that some people that live in Stonecrest are Villagers Wannabees OR they are sponges that want something for nothing. I think that the golf courses and the Rec Center facilities such as pools and courts should be policed better. Trespassers are law-breakers and these people think nothing of breaking a law. Doesn't that tell you the kind of people that SOME of these folks are?

That would be pretty funny to watch. I'd pay to see that!

That would be lawbreakers in answer to your question steve 9930. Someone who has no regard for someone else's property. Bet you've always been a taker and not a worker.

I agree.

Sigh. I totally agree that Stonecresters, et al., should not have unauthorized access to TV rec centers, swimming pools and golf courses. I have absolutely no objection for the riding their golf carts on our streets (which are public property and they pay taxes to maintain those streets just as we do). I understand that some of you take issue to "outsiders" using the paths which are not public property but, personally, I don't see it as a major issue and is far outweighed with the money they spend at the Squares and stores surrounding TV.

I hate, loathe and despise that gate. It has caused way too many bad feelings and dissension. It just ain't worth it.

Several people have mentioned putting up a wall to prevent Stonecrest residents from coming in here. I wonder if they realize how residents of the historic district use that gate to get to Lowes, Aldi, Walmart and the many other establishments over there. There are also people who use the urgent care and other medical facilities over there.

I agree that no one should be using illegal cards.

I don't know if there is good reason to keep Stonecrest residents out of the Villages or not and I'm not overly concerned about it. But, I would be concerned about the inconvenience caused to so many of the Villages residents.

If I'm not mistaken some residents from the other side of 27/441 also use that gate to get to those facilities as well.
They (we) have been using that gate for 30 years. To have it suddenly closed off would be unfair to many of our fellow Villagers.

What's the worst thing they do. Add a couple carts to our cart paths or take up a couple seats on the square?
If the rec center people are doing their job, only Village residents should be enjoying the rec centers.
Almost everyone that enters the Villages from anywhere adds to the economy.

what's a few more?

There has been more money thrown away on that gate then any benefit that will come from it being there. Its been broke once that I know of, the initial cost of installation, continuing maintenance, electric cost, future repairs, all for what?

I have met the nicest folks who live in Stonecrest since I moved here over 5 years ago. Unfortunately, I've got to believe that none of those who I have met are posting here on this or previously related threads.

I'd love to roam the streets of Stonecrest in my golf cart. Can anyone over there get me a gate pass? Better yet, just leave the lights on and the gates open.

I know what I paid for when I purchased in The Villages and never expected anything more (especially for free). I guess I must have been an informed buyer. Never once did I even consider looking for a way to work around The Villages Residency Requirements while living in a neighboring community.

Time to wrap it up. Good night.

Xavier

The topic has been thoroughly discussed, now and in an older thread as well.

The thread is now closed.
