You actually don't have to open the window. I just put the gate card against the inside of the glass when it's raining. Works just fine.

We've talked about this on prior threads. Not every scanner reads from inside the car, and sadly, St. James does not. Or else it's my card that won't read. But my husband's won't read from inside at St. James either.

I have noticed this also, the sensitivity of some of the scanners is lower then others, I have also had the situation where the scanner would not read the card at all and I had to use the red button.

where I lived before in a gated community, the security dept. would program your card into your garage opener control--when you approached the gate-you pressed the extra button on your opener control--
