What caused this change to the enforcement of an existing rule? Was it because on one incident or many? I wish TV would do a better job of getting the word out when they change enforcement policies. However, maybe I missed or overlooked their messages to us on “for sale” signs.

I, Gracie and others now have a better understanding of this rule and its enforcement which is a good thing.

Default Selective enforcement?

Can't have for sale signs or what will be the punishment? But they can't/won't enforce " no seat chair saving"

According to the other online news site, “ The warning sign threatened that the owner’s phone number had been recorded and that any further violations could result in the owner being prohibited from entering District-owned property.”

I don’t know about you but for me that could mean that I would not be able to pick up my mail when down in TV.

Rules are to be followed because they are the rules and not because of the punishment.

First, you must accept that this is a large privately run business. In my opinion, it is a well run business, in fact an extremely well run business that has made the owners very, very, VERY wealthy and provided for those who willingly bought here a unique and rewarding experience for a reasonable amount of money. There exists areas still completely owned and run by the builders who have the right to make the rules about how their property is used.

Second, you must accept if you choose to be happy here, that the family who runs this business usually does not tell any of us what their plans are for changes and additions. Further, they do not appear to seek attention, and rarely appear in public. They have in the past contributed large amounts of money to the Republican Party and have allowed members of the Republican Party to speak at the squares. Also Fox News has broadcast from the squares. (The owners NEVER appearing with them)

It is my belief that we get quite a lot for our decision to live here. I am pleased with how the grounds are maintained, the space left just for beautiful and the expensive and well appointed rec centers and well maintained pools and common grounds.

Many used to refer to Gary Morse as a "benevolent" dictator, and I guess that would be close to the truth. I am a huge supporter of the American way of doing things, of our right to vote and freedom for all, but as a realist I see that this family does a great job running this city.

NO ONE forced us to buy here and if we find that how things work aren't to our liking, we can try to change them or sell our home at a profit and move to a traditionally run city like Orlando or Miami or Palm Beach or Daytona Beach or Bushnell.

Agree 100%. No sense me writing anything.

You know you made a great point, carts with advertisement plastered all over it. Isn't this a little socialistic that we as property owners can't advertise something without paying our local papers a hundred dollars or more to advertise something that were selling that belongs to us. Yea, someone said that they're tired of looking at these "For Sale" signs hanging in there carts. Don't look at them look at the Vinyl graphic advertising & home service signs instead. Everything here in The Villages is for the Villages to make money & not let the property owners make a nickle on something. Good Comment!

We bought our first cart used, through an ad. We traded in an electric cart to The Villages Cart business. That is nearly ten years of us owning two carts. I am pretty sure we are typical.

People get their knickers in a hitch over things that rarely happen, like the national bathroom debacle.

Now that I know this is a rule, not trying to sell a vehicle at the public parking lot, I will handle it just like I have all other rules, I will abide by it.

I will concentrate on worrying about finding a cure for cancer and why people aren't saving money anymore.
Exactly! And yet, the developer is making such a big deal out of this. A billionaire family "gotta enforce the rules" when it comes to making a nickel, but to heck with enforcing seat saving; let the masses eat cake. How petty.

I agree! One sign in a golf cart that says For Sale, what about all the the team sports banners, the stickers & seeing someones cart all decorated with their favorite team or teams. Besides the only reason I really think their upset with these For Sale signs are because the Villages isn't making the money & it's not cheap to run an add in the THEIR paper. I like it here but all of the Villages is set up for the companies & the handy man that goes around charging everyone an arm & a leg to do anything. The Villages is a paradise for these over priced people to charge these retirees & elderly people. I know the ones that come here & think this is great are the ones that came from parts of the U.S. that had to pay for everything & you know who you are!

Very simple question. Is there a hoa rule saying you cannot have a sign temporarily on your cart or car while in the villages area? What if it was parked on your driveway?

Default Foe Sale signs in Squares

I agree the carts sitting around with for sale signs looks tacky and diminishes the beauty of the squares, Those that have carts for sale have the free ads to sell on or their front yard , also I have heard some just buy and sell carts as individuals as a part time business which is OK just do as the dealers do run an ad.

My problem is that I am not sure how they can tell the difference between one that is parked in front of Starbucks "for the purpose of displaying such motor vehicle, golf cart or merchandise for rent or sale" while the owner is at home and the one parked there by a person in the shop drinking coffee?? Or are they saying that you cannot put a for sale sign in the window of your car/cart inside TV?

If it is a major problem (which I personally doubt), maybe they should find a spot somewhere that you could pay a $10 fee or so and park your car or cart for buyers to see? We called it the "lemon lot" when we had them on military bases.

I am awash with Kool-Aid but I would guess that "they" would only tow carts that had been there for days. "They" seem to do everything else right. Again I say this is a tempest in a teapot and no big ummm deal. How often have you sold your golfcart?
