Now here's another problem - ROUND-ABOUTS:
We have 2 lanes in our round-abouts. When wanting to turn right at the 1st street is no problem, but drivers find it difficult to cross over if they are in the inside lane and want to exit at the 2nd or 3rd street. Which lane should we be traveling in? Are there actual guidelines for these lanes?
Here is how.

I agree with you 100%. However, cars and carts actually do, in many cases, at least slow down to maybe a crawl before they crash the stop sign.
My observation is that many bicycle groups "speed" through the stop controlled intersections as they play "follow the leader."

My rub is that when somebody pontificates about how safety conscious they are and that they follow the rules and that they have safety meetings, then they go out and blast through a stop sign like it wasn't there. On Arlington Loop in Chatham, the speed limit is 15 miles per hour. Every week, large groups of bicyclists round the loop well over that speed. They lean into blind curves as if they somehow magically know that nobody is coming the other direction. My wife, our neighbors and I have all had to "JUMP" out of their way to save our respective necks.

So, how "bout them Mets?

Default Golf Carts

We were visiting the Villages over the TG weekend, and if we hadn't stopped for the golf carts on many occasions, our car probably would have been in a collision with one. The golf carts seemed to act like they had the right of way, not the vehicle traffic.

The indecision takes longer by trying to figure out what people are going to do than a smooth traffic flow of people just doing what they are supposed to do.

Again please tell your guest as they drive in The Villages not to wave carts to cross in front of them. It may seem like the nice thing to do but it isn't.
I thought I would bring back this old thread just as a reminder. Today this happened to me several times. Please tell your guests that they are slowing down the flow of traffic even when they are being friendly.

Based on years of observation, I'd say that the majority of golf cart drivers (and also car drivers), think that cars have to stop and wait for golf carts to pass. Therefore it might be dangerous to instruct car drivers that they have the right away, since golf cart drivers are in very fragile vehicles.

Bottom line .. Tis the Season to be cautious.

Probably not the majority.

Sounds like another reason not to pull out in front of a 60+ year old person who has their foot on the brake and trust it will stay there in stead of sliping onto the gas pedal or the person behind them not stopping and running them into me. I would rather pull out after there are no cars around. I guess I am just not a trusting person when it comes to my golf cart vs their car.

But obviously no one reads signs.

Default golf cart right of way ....

maybe instead of worrying about speeding along .... NEW residents AND some that have been here since the area was a cow field might consider taking the golf cart course that is offered regularly .... I've seen golf cart drivers FAIL to merge - and the road is highlighted to do so .... i.e., on Odell near Mallery Sq .... and Stillwater down by Morse .... the course doesn't take long ... it SHOULD be a requirement for ANYBODY that buys a golf cart ...... how about crosswalks ????? EVERYBODY should be stopping to let pedestrians cross ... what's the rush ????? Is getting to the destination about 3 minutes earlier REALLY worth the hazzard and discourteous approach?

Exclamation while we are at it.......

to be Villages 'legal' the carts must be equipped with turn signals yet nobody seems to be using them....and no I cannot, in daylight, see those tiny yellow turn signals in the front of your cart so if you are going to turn in front of me please use a hand signal !

Cool

I'm glad this thread keeps popping up every 3 or so months. It reminds me that no one has been killed and the sky isn't falling.

I think it's time for a little
