The Villages Golf Cart set battery powered carts at 24mph right out of the box. Gas powered are still set at 19mph. I see a lot of gas powered carts now operating at speeds way over 25mph. It's easy to do at home. I guess time will tell what operating at 20-25% over designed speeds does to them.

The 2015 Yamaha electric I bought from them does 19.5 mph. It cannot be adjusted. Electrics do not have governors like gas carts. You need to replace the controller to change max speed and that costs hundreds of dollars.

I don't know about 2015 models but with newer electric carts the speed can be reprogrammed. The programming device I found was prohibitively expensive but it exists.

I am glad that someone mentioned the golf cart governor overrides (need for speed). Having golf carts driving around with DIFFERENT top speeds just asks for problems such as unnecessary passing. Why are retired people in such a hurry - you would think that they would have learned "impulse control" by now. Another problem is golf carts making high speed turns - they have a high center of gravity and can go out of control very easily - plus after happy hour the drivers get extra aggressive. Also, golf carts with altered governors are extra LOUD.

Rich1, the items that you are making reference to have been blown completely out of proportion, and in actuality the issues are not of any importance.

I have yet to see a car up on blocks in someone’s driveway. I have yet to see little ants and pink flamingos reducing the property value of our homes.

What I have seen is a reduction in the friendliness of some of the residence caused by the current political divide of the entire country.

It will get worse before it gets better.

Is it NOT the JOB of NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH to report such problems? Maybe we need more of them or THEY need more TRAINING.
