Those of you who condescendingly advise to simply not go the square are far more annoying that he is.
When someone takes the time to publicly make a complaint, especially about another person, they are open to feedback of all kind. And then, complaining about those who give feedback, is going in the wrong direction.

How about the transvestite? who dances by his/her?? self -- often at Brownwood? Oh my gosh. At first I thought this person was just a very unattractive woman, but then I was told that it is a man who dresses in woman's clothes....maybe "crossdresser" is the term. Very, very weird looking. And she/he will purposely dance right in front of people (way too close) -- that is why we avoid the front row.

Default Take the time ?

Before judging people, did you ever take the time to speak to the man ?

Or did you just decide using your KAREN attitude you were superior to him and therefore needed to post such harmful assessment?

Wrong! He is openly drinking beer from that back pack. And he isn’t buying it at the Squqre. Tolerance need only go so far. Whoever said “if you don’t like, don’t go” is foolish. This person has been doing this for years and has had many confrontations with others. If he cannot control himself he should be asked to leave but that would happen only if The Villages says so since the Square is private property. We just do not go or stay when he is there. And, we are not the only ones. It is the merchants who lose!

I rarely respond to idiotic statements but you woke the beast in me! This “character’ as you refer to him has just as much right to be there as you. He is harmless which is more than I can say for you. Think before you speak!

People should go back and read the original post. The writer only had an issue with the screaming and I agree it is not acceptable.

This first time I saw this person I was walking with my wife in SS. He was spinning on a sidewalk with his long arms stretched out to his sides. We didn't see him at first and he very nearly struck my wife. That would have ended very poorly for him.

I have since seen him talking with a patrolman and I believe he has the mental capacity to understand screaming is not appropriate.

He may have some sort of issue that deserves tolerance, but part of his routine is to regularly let out screams during the music.

I can understand that the powers-that-be would be cautious to intervene regarding most of his behaviour, but the screams in my opinion cross the line. They are so loud and blood curdling that they are a distraction to the music and, especially if nearby and unanticipated, they are startling and even a bit scary.

Maybe everybody but me thinks it's cute. Again, part of me has sympathy for the gentleman. His dancing alone would likely be just another curiosity at the square. But I simply don't think the extreme part of his antics...the screaming...should be tolerated.

Okay. I've vented.

I definitely won't be going to SS Square. I have sensitive startle reflex and those screems would be too much for me. I'll enjoy other squares.

Davonu, you open yourself up to harsh criticism when you post anything on this site. You have a viable claim and I'm sure many others that are not reading this agree. It's obvious this gentleman has issues with his enthusiastic display, Will that change, maybe at some point. Anyway you don't have to explain yourself to people who criticize a well written account of this man's unusual exuberance at the square. There is also a man who dances alone with very colorful clothes and bright striped socks yet he doesn't do anything to disturb others. Another lady (or man?) also dances alone a lot and again she doesn't disturb others. The patrolmen should have a conversation with this man to quiet his behavior.

I need to get out to the Squares more often. On the subject of the Conductor I would assume the band likes exuberant fans as long as they are not physically violent.

From the description, this man's behavior has absolutely nothing to do with Tourette's syndrome. I am continually amazed at those that spout out something that they know nothing about.

How about tolerance for those that are different then you. He is having a good time. If you dont like it that's your problem, not his. I enjoy seeing EVERYONE having a good time.

Live and let live! He’s not hurting anyone. He is mild compared to others I’ve witnessed at the squares in my ten years here.

You’re obviously new to tv. He’s not the only “character” at the squares. Where else in this country can you truly be free to express yourself and have fun. I agree with the suggestion to avoid the squares if you’re uncomfortable. I love seeing old folks having a great time!
