Thank you for the recognition as a Tour Professional; I can add that to the list of things I’ve been called.

Nobody golfs on Christmas Day in The Villages, because it’s too crowded.

We've been here two years and have found it is better to head for the less popular courses on Christmas given that it is free. A lot of folks head to Lopez or Palmer and face a crowd. We play Orange Blossom, which although busy, is less insane. It helps to "fortify" whatever beverage you bring to the course. This year it will be a bit chilly so I recommend coffee with Baileys.

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

For the last 11 Christmas Day golf I went once with a few others. Waiting about 1.5 hours to play. Only played 9 due to slow play. Easier to pay and play on a nice day. It’s going to be cold this year.

What are the chances of my showing up at about noon to play nine holes?

It is the responsibility of every player, regardless of ability, to leave the course in better conditions than they found it. If you don't understand this or refuse to comply with it, you have no business being on a golf course. It is the second thing in the USGA rule book after defining the game. It is that important.

Quote:
RULE 1.2 STANDARDS OF PLAYER CONDUCT

All players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by:

Acting with integrity – for example, by following the Rules, applying all penalties, and being honest in all aspects of play.

Showing consideration to others – for example, by playing at a prompt pace, looking out for the safety of others, and not distracting the play of another player.

Taking good care of the course – for example, by replacing divots, smoothing bunkers, repairing ball-marks, and not causing unnecessary damage to the course.

You should check to see whether the Committee has adopted a Code of Conduct, as you could get a penalty if you do not follow it.
It's not only the rules of the game, it's common courtesy and common decency.

As I mentioned back in my post on page 1, I played one time on Christmas at Bonifay and showed up at 7am. Was #38 in line and was told I would probably tee off about 10am. Then they asked if there was any singles, apparently a single had gotten there early. I was paired with the other single and a twosome and was teeing off by 7:30. What I saw when I finished about noon was only one cart waiting to tee off at the first hole.

They had also split the courses into two sections. Ft. Walton for those who wanted to play just 9 holes, or Destin starter shack for those wanting to play 18, so when they made the announcement half of those waiting in line went the other way. On my way home I drove through Turtle Mound and almost no one was on the executive courses.

Default For what it is worth...

Christmas Day Frost Possible
Reminder, starting tee times on Christmas Day are first come, first serve and may be affected by the forecasted frost on Friday morning. These decisions will be made as soon as possible that morning and we ask that, in the spirit of the season, everyone remains patient and cooperates with your course staff.

There is a frost delay until 8:30. This surely will not go over well with the masses
