Blasting Hank Jr. from your lanai would equate to 2 neighbors behaving badly. If knocking on their door, introducing yourself and saying "I don't know if you are aware, but voices carry between our close lanais" is not something you are comfortable doing, you could also send them a welcome to the neighborhood card and kindly ask them to be aware of the same. They may not even be aware. As for the profanity....I think that is a habit and has nothing to do with being from the north. It has been my experience that people who curse have added it to their acceptable vocabulary due to family role models or work role models doing the same.

We had noisy neighbors behind us in both directions. It was driving me crazy. I couldn't watch TV because of the noise. I actually bought headphones so I could watch TV. I put the house on the market and had two offers and then my husband (who is hard of hearing and couldn't hear the noise) says why not enclose the lanai. It cost about $15,000 but was the best thing we ever did. We put in the double pane Low-E windows. It made a huge difference. Also included in that price was a large bird cage so on quiet days we can go out and enjoy it.

I wish everyone would just chill and accept the fact that bad behavior is not regional and The Villages is not utopia.

Utopia would make a great name for a retirement community.

Oh wow ...We are so lucky where we live. No kissing Lanais. Can’t hear our neighbors. When we go to our neighborhood socials we joke about our back area between the houses. We could put a neighborhood pool back there. Or as one neighbor said...how about a landing strip. None of us that back up ever paid a premium for this space. It is great. We’ve been here 7 years and bought it pre-owned. I believe it was built in 2005. Great quiet neighborhood in mid villages. Maybe we are just lucky to have nice classy neighbors.

Research has shown that people who swear a lot are more intelligent than people who don't. Think I'm kidding, google it.

You're *&@%$*# right!

Swearing is actually a sign of more intelligence - not less - say scientists
