Default Comcast DTA pick-up in Belks parking lot at SS

Comcast has set up a small trailer and shade tent in the front of Belks in the parking lot, where you can pick up your DTAs (Digital Transport Adapter) I would suggest you try there, rather that the office in Summerfield, where the line was out the door and down the sidewalk, with everyone standing outside in the heat.

We all know it is coming, but was a bit surprised when I turned on the tvs that don't have black boxes, and none of them worked. (In August) I missed the report in the Sun.

Thank you for that information. This is so much easier than trying to get the device at the branch office in Summerfield.

I ordered mine online a bit ago and the very nice UPS man delivered it to the house. Doesn't take but a few minutes to install and set up.

We are renting and don't get the information as the mail isn't sent to us, and we failed to read the notice in the paper so we were surprised when, horrors, the golf channel and HGTV disappeared!

Thank you SO much for the heads up. We drove right up to that parking lot in Spanish Springs and only waited a minute to pick up the equipment.

Thanks AGAIN to YOU and to TOTV!

It is impossible to figure out where the conversions are going to happen.

Apparently if you get a letter saying that the conversion is going to occur, you are it. Otherwise you are in limbo. A neighbor three blocks over got a letter that his conversion was going to happen on September 13. I have heard nothing.

I have called and tried an online chat and have gotten nothing but lip service.

I got two pieces of junk mail (USPS) from Comcast today... One announcing that they are now Xfinity and the other a promo for their On Demand. Nothing about their conversion schedule or how service will be changing. I sure wish they communicated better with their customers.

Does anyone know if the residents on the historic side who have the free cable deal can get digital adapters from Comcast without an account number?

No, being in the historic side everyone will have to go back to black and white TV and 3 channels. You can enjoy Ed Morrow, Ed Sullivan, The Honeymooners, Life of Riley, Red Skelton, Cookoo, Fran, and Ali, The Lone Ranger, etc. Come to think of it, so would I, I'm jealous.

Comcast became Xfinity up here in MD this spring. I don't have cable so can't speak to what the change in service actually was, but most people I talk to seem to feel the only difference was in the name. The general thought is that they simply changed their name because the name Comcast was held in such disdain and everyone hated Comcast and all it stood for. They are trying to recast themselves as the company that cares about their customers though once again no one I talk to that has had them as Comcast or has them as Xfinity believes it........I hope things go better in TV with them.

They still don't care. I have 3 homes to install these DTA's at. I began the first home at 6:30 this morning. I just gave up on home 2 and have yet to start home 3. One works fine, but the others are a problem. Install is easy. Activation just does not work. They key all accounts off the phone number. Well I have the same phone for all of them. They can't handle that. So 5 hours later and I gave up. Worst company in the world to deal with.

I have used the online activation for at least three homes in my area and have not had a problem. I even had to go to my house to do one because the people had dial-up and I could not get to the digitalnow site.

But I do know that the dial in activation is a pain to work. Since I am hard of hearing I try to avoid the telephone activation.

We had no difficulties with activation, either, but each home that we activated, ours and Mom's, had separate accounts. All the boxes we were sent, worked, right out of the box.

This change is more than just a name change. Talking with a service tech installing equipment at Mom's, there will be remote programming, home security system and more. It won't happen for a while, but times, they are a changin' and we either adapt of get left behind....

After 5 years of Comcast service, I can honestly say they've improved quite a bit. They have been very responsive to any problem we've had. Saying that, there are some you get on the phone when calling who really don't have a clue. We've found out that it's just better to call again a bit later, you'll get a smarter and wiser responder. Believe me, the difficulties experienced aren't unique to Comcast alone...know some who've had problems with satellite tv, too....and don't even get me started on Embarq....I think my bit**ing made them change to Century Link....
