Visited the cemetery the other day. Noticed a tombstone that said, Jeb died from an accident, BUT, he had the right of way.
Common sense right of way is as follows: If it's bigger than you IT has the right away. Pretty simple! Walkers should give way to bikers, golf cars, small cars on the multi models paths. Bikers should give way to golf cars and small cars on multi model paths. Golf cars should give way to small cars on multi model paths. Courtesy Kills! So it follows the bigger you are the less courtesy you need to allow. Cars should not stop to let bikers, golf cars, small cars thru the passage way at gates. Cars have the right of way(Big Theory) and besides, courtesy waves them thru as the gate on the other side is opening and the other car, unaware, comes close to hitting them.( big potential accident) If you follow these simple rules you will never be Jebbed. ![]()

There should be no small cars on MMP. Diamond lanes are not sidewalks. On roads (public or private) walkers should walk facing traffic on left edge of road. In villages villagers like strolling along 2 or more abreast hogging the lane. I don’t see that ever changing.

I don't know who it was that said it, but someone once told me "Right of Way isn't something you have, it's something you yield" Now of course I understand that when you yield it to another motorist they "have" it, but that little change of perspective diffused some aggression on the roadway of trying to protect and keep what was mine to evaluating when and how I should be yielding it.

"I'm bigger than you. Get out of my way." Is that what the OP is proposing? Everyone is responsible for operating their vehicle in a responsible manner. And for sharing the road with others.

It is better to be safe than have an accident while in the right.
Defensive driving, biking, or walking is about being safe. |

I'm with you. If I don't have the right of way, I'll stay there all day until you move. What amazes me is that these same folks will not stop at stop signs.

Waving people on is "directing traffic". If you stopped (being the thoughtful and courteous person that you are) waved someone to go ahead of you, and they were hit by a vehicle you hadn't noticed, you could be held as liable for the accident. Do NOT direct traffic! Trying to be nice can sometimes get you into unforseen trouble.

Relying on your common sense may be good for you, but don't expect others to have the same common sense.
Compared to others, I drive slow and follow the rules. If I suspect another driver is not going to follow the rules, I honk at them and keep honking until I am out of any potential danger. This happens a lot in roundabouts. |

Golf carts should never have the right of way on roads with vehicles, AND at gates, please don’t be considerate. If, in your vehicle, you stop in slow traffic to allow a vehicle to cut in front of you for a left turn—-> there is a golf cart in the golf cart lane! If making a right hand turn in your vehicle—->golf carts need to stop.
